The way this era has unfolded thus far, it seems so. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love her and PI has been my jam since its release. But it's surely to be questioned if at all she wants to be that girl whose singles rocket to #1. Lord Ryry 3,367 Posted September 16, 2016 Share Posted September 16, 2016 I don't think it works like that, she says she has no formula, she didn't write Born This Way and The Fame Monster thinking "this is going to be a huge success and get number 1's" she wrote it for her fans and for her love of music, the exact same as Joanne, she will never know if her songs will be a success that's all down to how the public perceives them. So basically she always does the things she loves, she doesn't care if its a hit but I don't think she ever has done. I personally feel that if you're in it just to have a ton of #1 hits, then you're in the wrong business. Making music shouldn't be about the charts. It should be about making the music that makes you happy and means something to you regardless of what happens with the charts. Gaga lives and breathes music. It's who she is. It would be a devestating blow to her never to be able to make music again. She doesn't give 2 flying shits about the charts. She has always been the trendsetter. Perfect Illusion sounds so good on radio, its so catchy, it has good bass, its the ultimate Gaga song in my opinion or at least up there just behind Bad Romance. Its also relatable to normal people. I think this is Gaga's best pop hit effort we've seen for over half a decade. Plus the album cover is so pop it gives me Taylor Swift 1989 vibes. She has a formula, called the art of fame. In fact even this album cover is very John Lennon / Yoko ono of her... one of her biggest inspirations. Its so relatable, everyone who listens to the radio well a lot of them will be agreeing with a lot of what she sings in the song. She wants success in the charts of course. But she is doing what she wants to do at the same time. I think she is getting the balance perfectly right during this Joanne era. Omg no more LG5. She said recently that fame had traumatized her, and that she was very shaken up by what happened and how she felt treated during her hip injury. It probably made her re-evaluate what is important to her -- being grounded, happy, and enjoying more creative freedom. People need to stop obsessing over visibility, charts and sales. Even if it DID matter, nobody stays at #1 forever. Nobody. She continues to have a very solid fan base and will be fine as a talented and respected musician. Not necessarily number 1's or purposely make music just for the charts but she at least needs to care a little about what people think. Do you feel him sir? I just mean theres no way to tell whether a song will be a hit or not, people regard bad romance as one of the best pop songs ever but it never reached number 1.
