They both also use a similar synth in the choruses. It's the really high pitched, "sparkly" sounding one.

I think Perfect Illusion alludes to Venus... I do it in my own music, I recycle certain melodies if two or more songs are about somebody. But we'll never know for sure.

Venus Lyrics: I wonder if this could be love, this could be love

Perfect Illusion Lyrics: At least now I know it wasn't love, it wasn't love, it was a perfect Illusion

Was Gaga always doubtful of her relationship with Taylor from the beginning? As if it was too good to be true? Now she knows it wasn't really love...just a moment in time.

Headcanons are not canon darling. Especially when said headcanon was shot down in flames by the creator herself.

I do not think there was any sort of doubt in "Venus." I thought "Venus" was about the perfect kind of love and about how her previous experiences with love couldn't even compare to it.

Anyway, no. "Perfect Illusion" is about fake people and about learning to differentiate between what's real and what's not. There are plenty of fake b*tches in the world, and Gaga's certainly crossed paths with many such individuals. The illusions can be so appealing at first, but illusions are all they are. I don't think Taylor is an illusion to her when she's made it clear that she cares for him.

Gagas love

you guys, clearly she had to back track after the whole world was like holy **** she was not so in love.

so yes its not about TAYLOR, its about her towards the whole thing. so its about her. shes freeing herself tho through this song. saying bye to that chapter. you can tell the relationship ended way before it was announced. we all felt it. so she has healed. shes in a different space now thats beyond lg5. she doesnt let us keep up. i love it. this time, act 2 is gonna come like the fame monster. trust.
