androiduser 7,438
This isn't a negative thread, it's my opinion as a Gaga fan and a 40 year old music fan who's been around since the 80's. She can't get away with rock because she's not a rock artist. Period. PI is a basic pop song disguised in a rock t-shirt. No amount of boots, shrill vocals, microphone waving can hide it. The audience can sense fakery from a mile away. The fact that she grew up with rock music and likes rock classics does not make her a rock performer. Gaga was successful with the Jazz era and the looks because that's a natural part of her, and it was real actual jazz / traditional pop, and the people immediately recognized it as a part of her. Rant over.

Chic 20,830
I'm in the hospital right now. Third degree burns cover my body, my skin is melted off and my bone protrudes from the waxy mix of my organs and flesh. If only your boiling hot tea had not flooded my household. Gardevoir 9,812
No one, including Gaga is saying that PI is a rock. It's pop song with maybe rockish influence. Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

HEARTHUNTER 7,611
Yeah, alright. I guess you haven't seen the Pre-The Fame era videos in which she was playing and singing rock music with her band didn't you? Gaga has always been a rockstar disguised as a popstar, and it's contradictory to even call her music pop music because it has always been weird, outlandish and innovative : going against the currents, except for ARTPOP which was deliberately EDM infused Pop music but it's not Gaga. Gaga has never been a true pop star to begin with.

ryhanna 3,507
But it's not a rock song. And Gaga's not pretending to be a rock artist. It's straight up pop with rock influences. Just because you're not digging it doesn't make it inauthentic.

REALITY 75,620
I mean, couldn't you say the same thing about Taylor Swift? She was a huge country star, but now she's one of the biggest pop stars, ever. Gaga makes great pop music, there's no denying that, but this isn't any sort of "fakery". There's a difference between being good at something and genuinely likely and enjoying something. I'm not saying that she doesn't enjoy or like pop music. She definitely does, but it's quite evident that rock is her preferred genre. That's what she grew up on, that's what she knows, that's what she likes. Pop music just so happened to be where she got her fame and her fortune. I mean, she said herself, she wanted to act, but music came first. She's a rock star, always has been a rock star, and will continue to be a rock star EDIT - And has some people have mentioned, this isn't a purely rock song. I consider it to be a pop rock song. It's not purely rock, nor is it purely rock. It resides in the middle. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
Lord Temptation 11,209
Why are you so offended that it is a woman who is bringing rock back from the grave? Why don't you get mad about all the "men" who make crappy fake rock music? Gaga's got a bigger d*ck than all of ya'll phoney rock wannabes. You're all talk.
