You can't use previous years' measure of sales anymore. Sales are becoming more irrelevant by the day. Do people nowadays buy music? No, people mostly stream. If anything, check her streaming numbers. If people like pop hits they'll just play the top charts playlists on Spotify and are not waiting on Billboard to tell them what is a hit or what's not. Market is diff from when ARTPOP, BTW, TFM, etcwas around. Who buys music? Not millennials. Mostly gen Y folks and baby boomers BUY music. Stream baby stream. Instant gratification model. Well let's compare it to other popstars then. She is selling as much as BRITNEY.That's bad news for her relevancy

Still the top song in streaming in my Apple Music. Expect this to either be an instant hit with new fans we weren't expecting support from, no support at all and hopefully she can treat it as a buzz single, OR it will be a Just Dance on BB

Streaming and radio airplay will pick up sales' slack. She is relevant enough, she doesn't need to be the biggest thing in the world.

Bye 3,947
Just now, Britney Spears said: Relevant enough is subjective I guess :P It really is. You still love Britney, right? Does it matter that she is not as relevant (relevant enough to still release albums and get her lead single somewhat played on the radio and performing on the VMAs)? People seriously need to CHILL. I thought people had learnt with ARTPOP. Enjoy the music, follow the charts if you want, but don't meltdown or be negative and if something fails commercially then that's ok too. FFXSoul91 1,098
From what I've learned from stans on pop music forums, if your song or album isn't #1 on the Billboard charts for multiple weeks, you are a "flop" and may as well pack it up. I'm glad I don't agree or else the artists we would be left with would be very disappointing.

Charts are fun but if you asked me to recall all the numbers ones from last year, I would struggle. Currently listening to Joanne

I don't believe that Britney is relevant. She has a fanbase that helps her make decent first week numbers but that's it. I am pretty sure that if I ask 100 random people on the street if they know "Make Me",hardly 2-3 people will answer yes. Personally I don't care about it.The sales and the success don't affect my love for an artist in any way (I actually love artists that don't even chart). I just don't even like PI and it doesn't seem surprising that it's not doing well in the US

Azor Ahai 18,861
A real flop is if something costs more to make than the money it earned. A 'Gaga' flop is if it doesn't stay in top 10 for more than a month (for me).
