To me, as someone who was a teenager in the 90's, "Perfect Illusion" is absolutely NOT alternative. She's using the 90's "alternative" aesthetic, and the intro definitely gives it that vibe, but the song itself is pure unadulterated pop. We'll have to wait and see what else she has up her sleeve for LG5 before we can give it this label. But again, the "alternative" label has many meanings. But there's very little of a chance all of the colabs she's doing will fit perfectly under pop, and alternative is basically your "everything else" genre (atleast it is in the 10's). And I'm sure they chose PI because it was one of the more mainstream/pop songs on the album (like Born This Way and Applause), which means LG5 will probably sound overall deferent.
