Do you think of hits?

A friend asked me: "Do you think it will be a hit?" :oprah:

:madge::madge::madge:

I don't think of hits. I think of sucess. There's a difference! Listen...

My passion for Lady Gaga started because I love her as a performer, as a singer and as a personality. I didn't like her less because a song was not going well on the charts. Marry The Night is the best example: it is what they call a "flop", but is one of her best songs. The fans love Marry The Night, the performances of this song were amazing, and that, to me, means sucess.

I refuse myself to think of Billboard Hot 100. I don't even like the songs that are there. Gaga is going to release a brand new album within the next weeks, and it has Florence, Kevin and Beck on it. Have you seen these people on the top of Hot 100 lately? No, thank you. :awkney:

If Perfect Illusion is a hit I will feel happy for her and for the fandom, but that's all. I won't dislike the new era because it doesn't sound like a #1.

I should get "Music, not the bling" tattooed on my forehead :spin:

When one of her songs is a smash or an album does well, it's exciting and I'm happy for her! I want her to be commercially successful, obviously. However, chart positions, numbers, sales, none of that stuff has any effect on what I think of a song. I'm here for Gaga, not a #1 :sis:

🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼

She makes people happy by doing what makes her happy, probably not even 1% of the worlds population can say that, and that is success

I think of hits daily. Almost more than coffee. My friends refer to me as "one big walking encyclopedia of pop music facts."

However, earlier tonight I thought, "how would Gaga live with this song not being a hit?"

...and then it hit me like a ton of bricks... Gaga is such a cultural force at this point, it no longer matters whether her songs are "hits." They are part of her canon and will be remembered, simply because they are "her."

And when an artist hits that point, what really matters is no longer hits... it's whether they are good. And PI is not just good, but it's brilliant!!

Whether or not the GP of 2016 appreciates it is irrelevant. And if they never do in our lifetime, someone somewhere down the road will cover it and have a massive hit with it. And all the royalties will go to Gaga herself (or her estate, should she pass before that happens).

Gaga is an artist, not merely a pop star. She's creating a legacy, not hits.

Exactly, shes at a point where it doesnt even matter, look at Madonna, her last 3 albums have completely failed and who cares? Her tours and her reputation are as strong as always.

Gaga is already a legend and a chart position wont change that

I get you both, but I think that Gaga is still such a massive name, nostalgic now to many who is making their big music comeback, and this song is so catchy, striking and memorable to not be a hit, it may gain lots of hate and dislike because its so bold, but that will only help gaga in the charts by drawing more attention. I love it so much and I think it is definitely going to do well in the charts, maybe not number 1 but so what normal people aren't bothered about if it got to 1 or not.

Well of course I want her to get the big numbers, and as one of my fave songs ever i feel it has the potential to do so, but if it doesnt, its ok, shes still my fave, shes still a legend and her name is a big chapter in music history
