I think Perfect Illusion is flopping

Your life will be so much better and stress free if you don't bother with the charts and just enjoy the music. That's what we all waited for, isn't it? For new music? Now that it's here, all some of you do is talk about it "flopping" instead of being grateful that we now finally have something new that makes the wait for LG5 to drop more bearable.

And if you see how happy Gaga is when she performs Perfect Illusion, I don't understand why some of you still want to rain on her (and other people's) parade.

That is a deluded statement and anyone that was around in 2013 can attest to that. Stop spreading negativity Newbie its completely unfounded.

We're gonna see this.

I hope she understands that choosing this one for the lead single was a mistake and she decides to release something produced by RedOne.

I hope you understand that it's not 2009 anymore and Gaga has evolved as an artist, and PI is the natural next step in her evolution, and it's unlikely she'll ever go back to basic RedOne pop.

If this song flops that would mean the majority of GP is a flop ;)

Interesting point, so if our fanbase likes a song and the GP doesn't, the GP (who is >>>>>>>>than us) is a flop. Again, interesting.

Please, don't call previous Gaga work basic, just don't.

I'm not referring to Gaga's work specifically, but RedOne's music is very generic. Sure, his tracks with Gaga are amazing, but that's because of Gaga, not RedOne.

It wasn't . But if she goes back to RedOne now, she will be stuck with a sound that she's not feeling anymore.

He was awesome for a time. But Gaga want's to try new sounds. RedOne just doesn't fit well enough with her ambitions. Which even if she forced herself into working with him, would only end up making songs that are more soulless than her first singles were.

Our fanbase has always been in flux because of how she changes so much after each album. This album will make people leave, new fans will come, and the cycle will repeat with every new album.

Multiple negative updates on its sales. The best we can hope for is a top 10, I don't see the video having much effect either way. Some of the reviews I've read are also so harsh and rude.

Henny, sales don't mean a thing anymore. The Impact of these sales on iTunes isn't that big anymore. Streaming now counts, and PI reached 600k Streams on Spotify US alone in ONE DAY, which is huge for someone who has never relied on streaming. 'Needed Me' by Rihanna barely sold 500k in the US and is 2x Plat. there.

You realise that it's very rare for anyone to have a song that becomes a sudden hit ? It always goes #1 because of the hype around the artist, then it falls into the top 10, and that's where the promo does its job of making it stay there and even slowly progress back to #1.
