I feel so strongly about this I decided to make my own thread for discussion. I think that this song Marks a moment for her where she decided, enough with the try hard lyrics. I am going to write a song about how I feel and just tell you about it with my voice. She doesn't speak the lyrics, she sings all of them. There are no complex metaphors hidden within metaphors. The topic is something that everyone that has ever been involved with a breakup can relate to and the production is near flawless. Chemically and lyrically and cohesively, this is her best work to date. Come for me for saying that if you want, but if you want to release a successful song in 2016, you have to write about something that people live through- Applause was not something that everyone could bounce in their mind and say "ive been there" because my mother thought she was talking about raccoons when she said "Koons is me". DWUW missed it because R.Kelly is a sexual offender and people thought.. "She's really singing a song about Doing What U Want with my body with a guy who has had sexual misconduct issues?" (Bad idea). And G.U.Y. no one cared at that point because the first two singles were so meh. PI is the real deal. It has it all. To people who think the song is repetitive: Work work work work work work work work work....... billboard smash hit. That's all. To the people who say "I didn't sign up for this" "Im turnin in my stan card" You're basically saying that Gaga is condemned to your particular tastes. That's not a healthy way to view a musician or artist. If you want sugary pop there's great news for you... The Fame, The Fame Monster, Born This Way, and ARTPOP still exist. PI's existence and creation did not banish your ability to recall those tracks or listen to them. Have at it. Britney Spears just released a great new pop album called "Glory". It's so sugary you'll become diabetic. Gaga does not owe anyone a particular style. She is an artist. This is like dragging a new iPhone model because you miss the previous models size, layout, and the way it felt in your hand. No one is sticking a gun to your head and saying "YOU HAVE TO BUY THE NEW IPHONE AND LIKE IT". But the market called for them to make a bigger screen so they made a bigger screen. Think of Gaga's artistic vision as the market and PI as the newest model. Keep your 5S. Keep your 2008 sound. Keep your signed hard copy of the terms and conditions you set forth in your mind for what Gaga must do to keep you happy and move along. When this song slays for the next 6 months you might be signing up for something different because this whole post was made out of fear of PI being a "flop". That's what this is really all about. Because almost every "you're going to drag me for saying this" post has literally been about that when you read the fine print. Now excuse me.. im going to rape this repeat button on PI again. You're being very presumptive when saying folk are condemning gaga to their particular taste. That's completely untrue. Just because someone doesn't agree with you and doesn't like one song you assume we are condemning her to what we like. You're being hypocritical and basically saying everyone should like this song or not give a negative view. I loved her previous work and will always like it. Time moves on, you want fresh music to love and if folk don't like gagas music anymore folk may not become "stans" and lose touch with gaga. That' their right. You said gaga doesn't owe us anything which is very true just like I don't have to owe her anything at my choosing. Being a super fan is very fluid. I wonder what the mods will think of this. Guess we'll find out.

Maybe people who are scared to read conflicting opinions need to leave! Honey I don't know how your brain works but the length of stay on this cult site is definitely a non-issue here. "Liking PI" is not a requirement for this site - it will never be - and everyone is well aware of that. The thing is nobody cares if the guy likes the song or not - but he spams threads with useless, unnecessary comments (please refer to what I quoted a while back) and I think that's plain stupid. And I can tell you no one here is scared of reading conflicting opinions - ARTPOP has happened, may I remind you - but people who do such things going around proclaiming how they hate the material even when no one is asking nor interested is just brainless. 12 minutes ago, Computer said: Thankfully for me that's the wrong tag Anyway I stopped commenting bad about it since it doesn't help anything, I had to let my feelings out but I'm happy for those that like it, maybe it will grow in me, who knows Hunty I was on my phone eating a meal given by the lord jesus christ I am very sorry You know what, you don't have to like the song. No one will force you to like the song. And as harsh as it may sound, no one cares about how you feel about the song because we all have our tastes, our opinions. Don't go around making unsolicited comments, it's not cute. Thank you for stopping, it's getting unbearable.
holy scheisse 22,254
Bless the OP Perfect Illusion revived my faith in gaga. I had 0 expectations listening to it the first time and it DELIVERED something fresh from her. With ARTPOP she failed to evolve, she actually even regressed a bit, but this is a new territory and I LOVE it. I am so here for Gaga following her passion and staying true to herself. This is probs the most honest and raw song she's done and I don't know how people overlook that. LOVE it.
