To be brutally honest

EDIT: I'm not trying to be negative, just being honest. I HOPE I'M PROVEN WRONG I LOVE THE SONG.

Before y'all shred me to pieces I personally love the song. It's fine, ragey and I continue to admire the risks a popstar of Gaga's stratosphere chooses to take (I mean that key change in the song was ****ing brave)

To be frank though this song is not going be the mega hit no.1 smash that was BR/PF. (I know BR was no.2 in America but I'm talking global)

While I understand Gaga has always been a unique case, the trend right now is minimalism. Looking at Work by Rihanna, Hello by Adele, and even Roar by Katy Perry. All mega hit smashes that sell on simplicity and accessibility. Even Closer (which is going to go back to number 1 soon) is a relaxed, relatable anthem with minimal vocal work and production. :awkney:

I will ALWAYS support Gaga but y'all gotta stop engaging with stan twitter and cut it with 'GAGA'S GOING TO END YOUR FAVE'S CAREER WITH HA SINGLE' BS. That's not going to happen sorry and I have my doubts about whether or not this will hit number 1 in any country. This direction she's heading with her music is just not accessible for everyone in the general public like the aforementioned songs and thus will not reach the same success. :awkney:

I really wanted this song to be a universally liked club banger but If that's not Gaga wants. fine. I respect her decision for taking risks and using her raw vocals on the track. It's admirable. I hope no one gets too angry with this thread. The Gaga that used to rule the world in 2011 is long gone and the commercial pop girl gang have left her behind in the rat race. Gaga has chosen to take a different route to their Max Martin/Dr Luke choice, and that's something we should accept and understand. She's no longer part of that pop titan pack anymore.

So everyone should just calm down with the chart positions and take the music for what it is. Gaga clearly does not want, or perhaps she doesn't possess anymore, the ear for what makes an accessible pop song. Peace out.

#1 now are trash (apart from Cheap Thrills). Gaga doesn't need to make trash just to get a #1.

In my messy era.

Poker face was also strange back to 2008. Then people loved it

The Surrealist

Isn't it already #1 in 58 countries? She just needs to keep it up.

But it won't br as successful as Bad Romance that's for sure.

Dude the difference was Poker Face is so ACCESSIBLE. I knew even straight guys loved it and weren't afraid to listen to it.

I agree. The charts don't define quality. I think this album will be her best, especially from a critical point of view.

I agree with you, it would have been cool to have a universally loved Gaga hit to tear up the charts & radios, but I've come to respect that Gaga really loathes the idea of being like that anymore, shes making music as a result of jamming out with producers she loves, and is releasing music that she personally loves, instead of having to make sure its a banger.
