Does anyone else feel like this is a calm precursor?

they also get you 'hooked'... that's why they are...hooks :toofunny:

Venus is quite the chaotic song though? And an unusual structure for the U.S. pop market then and now.

Surprised at the amount of people saying they wouldn't think PI is 'safe'. I don't use the word in a horrible way, but with the likes of Kevin Parker I would have expected something with a richer soundscape. I kinda expected more.

I would say it's risky in the sense that it's a new direction for Gaga, and I do like PI, but I do feel like this is a relatively safe single in terms of the people she is working with. Maybe it's cause I'm Australian, like obviously if you are Australian you have listened to Tame Impala and PI would have been seen as a kinda watered down version of their other work if it was released by them.

I don't mean that as shade to PI to be clear, it's a great song, it just feels more like a teaser for a richer main course.

Yes ,exactly. "Safe" is not a dig at PI at all. It's a bit different from the tropical house and the slow chill R&B currently dominating, but it's not Bjork either. I find it pretty traditional and palatable considering the indie and left-field (to pop) collaborators on this album.

maybe not for 2013, but with the right promo it could have been a moderate hit back in, like say 2010 or so.

Please correct me if I make any grammar mistakes, I want to master English as much as possible.

omg you took the words out of my mouth LMFAO

I didn't really expect more per say though, as I knew I would love whatever she boiled up.

However, talking about being safe, totally agree with you.. I think the music we're gonna get will be more experimental but still radio friendly and well received  (hopefully)

Absolutely, I suppose other people are looking at this from a pop perspective. The unedited vocals, the rock inspired production and such certainly make it different as a pop song but I agree that when compared to the work of the collaborators outside of this single it's very traditional and palatable.

I hope she dives in a little deeper in the album itself.

I thought of this as a calm precursor... but at this point, i don't want to expect any more for the next singles. i need to know nothing before actually hearing the song.

still trying to like the song. (we need the MV!)

Well by listening to that interview today it sounds like she knows what she's doing and has it all planned out.

Even her attitude towards clothing, she encouraged people to "dress cool" and wear denim, and blonde bleached hair :emma:

This era is gonna be so laid back but still punk rock and pop all at once, while being extremely artistic and authentically real....

IM SO HYPED. CHAOS.

The chorus of a song or poem is the part that is repeated and usually expresses the ideas or main themes of the work. The hook is the part that's mean to draw the listener in, the catchiest part. Sometimes songs will have a hook but no chorus, sometimes the hook is in the chorus (I think "it wasn't love" could be considered a hook here). In Love Game, the hook is "let's have some fun...." While the chorus is "let's play a love game..." Bad Romance hook is "Ra Ra Ooh La La" part, chorus is "I want your lovin..."

We already know how vast a Gaga album can be. I imagine it being very ecletic. Don't worry, monsters, we will have a song for every type of fan!

Most songs formats are like this:

Verse 1, pre-chorus or hook, chorus, verse 2, pc/hook, chorus, bridge, final chorus sometimes repeated twice.

Its also to note that not all songs repeat the exact same thing every chorus. But in a poem to be considered a chorus, it would need to be verbatimly repetition.
