Did Beyonce shade Gaga?

I definitely think a lot of the references were intentional, but idk if I'd call it shade.

Maybe it's Beyonce giving her character from Telephone an ending.

the nurse made me think of DWUW (not saying it's a reference but it just shows how all of these could be coincidences considering this was before ARTPOP

The only reference to Gaga is Edward himself, other references are connected to different artists...

I know I'm stirring up old stuff, but I still occasionally think about Beyonce's Haunted video from her self-titled album and its various references to Gaga in the video.

Prepare for the receipts ...

1. Haunted was directed by Jonas Åkerlund, who also directed Paparazzi and Telephone, the latter the continuation of the former.

2. Haunted was shot in the same house as Paparazzi, the Villa de Leon in Malibu, California.

11. Haunted also featured Lady Gaga impersonator, Edward Vigiletti.

And with some background on the song's meaning:

The latter track – “Haunted” – describes her relationship with her image and her past, relating them as “ghosts” or things that follow her around consistently, a shadow of what they once were.

I wonder: does she regret working with Gaga?

Despite the fact that Telephone was a commercial hit, it was the epitome of mindless, albeit catchy pop music. I mean, it was written for Britney and even she rejected it. Especially given the fact that Haunted was paired with Ghost, a song about reclaiming her sense of artistry with the album, as a single track, did Beyonce shade Gaga?

It isnt shade beyonce loves lady gaga, literally every pop star out there loves Gaga usually praises her. They have shaded her a bit for the meat dress. But who cares about that. Beyonce has always been inspired by Gaga, especially during the sasha fierce era. I think beyonce will be on LG5. We have already got cryptic hints about it.

I think some of these are def references to Gaga, but some of them are reaches. I don't think it's shady at all. In fact I think Beyonce is inspired by Gaga in a beautiful kind of way. Beyonce changed as an artist after being exposed to Gaga (in a good way imo she stepped up her fashion and video game).

Bad Bromance

Not in my opinion.  I kind of think it's Beyoncé's way of giving Gaga a nod for her past work.  Besides, there has never been any kind of rift between the two so why would she shade her?  Nah, I don't think so.  The OP presented very good arguments, but Bey is not shading our Queen.

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

That's why Mrs. Beyoncè Carter is always wearing her shades...and it's definitely not because she's dancing in the flames:derpga:

Reminds me of Rihanna for some reason

The whole video is inspired by the Shining and some people say that it's confirmed that's inspired by Justify My Love music video.

Jonas Akerlund is the director so it's obviously his way of editing videos, with the security cameras and stuff (he even did it with Britney)

Music video in my opinion represents how music industry is imprisoning artists and celebrities in general and Beyonce is just stopping by, just like in a hotel of some sort.

The same theme can be seen in Madonna's secret project film, by Steven Klein

And in Kanye West - Monster music video.

Bye.

Didn't someone make a thread (with receipts) about Gagz being Becky with the good hair?? Could that be why there's all this shade? :oprah:

Also (if I'm not mistaken) Beyoncé's 4 era was her ARTPOP and Gagz was on top with BTW... so maybe it was more of a 'now I'm back on top' type of thing... although I think it's odd that on 'Ghost' Beyoncé says something about not making money off the self titled album... so hmm...
