I'm not sure if there was a thread about this, but i just re-watched the Intel Performance, and i'm sure that Gaga definitely planned to debut it back at THE GRAMMY in February, and then she changed her plans, because she chosed to honor her idol David Bowie.

The Intel Performance, was announced 1 week before Bowie's death. They were promising a lot of things such as changing the world, a performance where pop meets techonolgy. And they delivered such a simple performance.

The question is "What Gaga would perform if Bowie didn't pass away" ... The answer is Perfect Illusion.

The stills from the commercial, are screaming "Illusion"

Everything was Illusion, in the first promo video Gaga says " I have the ability to invent the inventable"

"I have the potentional to imagine the unimaginable, and see the unseeable" - PEFECT ILLUSION!

I don't think PI was ready in February. If you recall to previous interviews, RedOne mentioned that a song he worked on was originally going to be the lead and to be released sometime around then. It would be more realistic to assume she would've performed that instead. However, the Grammy's confirmed early on that she would not be performing new material, so I honestly think it would've been a giant performance of all of her hits and eras to prepare for the (then soon) upcoming era.

Just think of all of the looks if that happened. She would've done a VMA's style of SLAYAGE but for like 15 minutes

What if she started the song with RedOne, and then when the performance got delayed, she tried to re-work the song but under Mark's production? Everything is possible! But the concept and her speech during the promo material totally fits with the title.

Mm I only doubt that because Gaga could still use the stuff she worked on with RedOne for LG5. So no need to recycle themes I guess? Who knows, it's possible but I would then expect RedOne to get some credit on PI, which he doesn't have (from what we've heard).

I don't think that's possible. Maybe the THEME for the shoot was along the lines of her LG5 vision but the song wasn't even created back then I think...

Mark Ronson said in an interview in early July he got "involved about 3/4 months ago", that's April. Mark and Kevin Parker are credited as main producers for PI. I highly doubt Gaga had her lead single ready, a high-profile performance planned for it (a Grammy debut is major) and then decided to completely re-do her lead single with a new producer.

Doubt it.

You have a point, yeah, it makes sense, but I feel like the song was conceived back  then when Mark posted this photo on Intagram.
