Mother Theresa - Now A Saint

Mother Teresa, a Catholic nun who devoted her life to helping India's poor, has been declared a saint in a canonization Mass held by Pope Francis in the Vatican.

Pope Francis delivered the formula for the canonization of the Albanian-born nun -- known as the "saint of the gutters" -- before huge crowds of pilgrims gathered in St. Peter's Square in Vatican City on Sunday morning.

Applause broke out before he completed the formula of canonization, in which he declared "Blessed Teresa of Calcutta to be a saint."

I call bullshit. This woman is the biggest hypocrite I've seen ever. She's a conservative poverty-wise, thinking poor people should endure poverty and survive illnesses as well as they can while she was in a private hospital

“There is something beautiful in seeing the poor accept their lot, to suffer it like Christ’s Passion. The world gains much from their suffering,” Mother Teresa once told the unamused Christopher Hitchens."

She didn't care about helping to alleviate the pain of these people, she cared about 'converting' them (sometimes baptising them against their will). She was also anti-abortion, divorce, and contraception which is disastrous in a country like India.

Former volunteers of hers have talked about how the organization didn't vet him or the other volunteers, so they often had 0 medical experience, they saw nuns routinely reuse needles after washing them in tap water, that clothes -- sometimes soiled with urine and feces -- and cooking utensils were hand washed side by side in the same room. Patients suffering from respiratory diseases had to bathe in freezing water because a single water heater wasn't barely enough for one bath. And there was not a single doctor or medically trained nurse at the hospice. Attempts to raise a red flag or offer to install a water heater were always met with the same response by the nuns. "We don't do that here. This is the way Jesus wants it"

Mother Teresa was equipped with resources to give the ill that came from across the world for healing. Instead, she allowed their health to decline, without medicine to hinder pain, proper food, and cleanliness. Yet hypocrisy dictated that when Mother Teresa needed medical care, she received it in a hospital.

She accepted honors and grants from Haitian dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier, a man known for the severe mistreatment of his own people while living in a bubble of luxury. When asked to return donated money from the corrupt banker Charles Keating, she remained silent and she also accepted money from Robert Maxwell, later discovered as stolen money.

Oh god. Another stupid decision, same as canonization of John Paul II. But I guess I will leave this nonsense to the catholic church. Not my business.
