People talk about how certain albums in her discography are underrated, but I'm Breathless is the real underrated gem.
Chiunzhan 996
5. American Life 4. Bedtime Stories 3. Erotica 2. Ray of Light 1. Rebel Heart (it has a little bit from every era tbh, that's why I love it so much!)
Anderson123 36,165
1. Ray of Light 2. Bedtime Stories 3. American Life 4. Erotica 5. Confessions I've been re-discovering Hard Candy this year. I kind of had a Timbaland/Justin Timberlake a couple of months ago, got obsessed all over again with Cry Me A River, Future Sex/Love Sounds so the production of Hard Candy really made me appreciate it more now. All of her albums have good and bad songs, but I think the most underrated are Rebel Heart and Music.
gagzus 15,064
the silence in between each track is my favourite part (except Erotica aka her only good and actually worthy album)

Finally, I feel like I have to make a ranking. As I said, I like her entire discography but I prefer her last records because I have so many memories and emotions related to these albums. But like many of you, I have no definitive classification, each time I listen to an album I'm like "omg this is definitely her best " I understand that her older albums like Like a Prayer or Ray of Light are objectively better than Hard Candy or MDNA but I don't care about objectivity, I love the albums that make me dance and act like a bitch. 5. Erotica (or Music, but Erotica has a stronger concept) 4. Confessions on a Dance Floor 3. Hard Candy 2. MDNA 1. Rebel Heart

Please listen to those two holy albums. And message me your thoughts on them after. I took like a month break from listening to Madonna last year and the first song I listened to her after that break was "Love Profusion" and I almost cried from the pure perfection of that song. I wish I was alive during the Erotica era and I wish I listened to her in 2002 for American Life. Theyre both created through anger but came out as beautiful masterpieces! Anderson123 36,165
It's very interesting to see the list of everyone here. Most of the younger listeners obviously go for Confessions as the #1 and have gotten lately into her recent albums, so probably MDNA, Rebel Heart and even Hard Candy make it to their top 5, meanwhile her 80's and 90's albums are not that popular among them (Except for Ray of Light, that's almost the go-to album for new fans). I'm a 90's kids but I'm starting to understand the nostalgia of old albums. I wonder if I'm going to be the type of Gaga fan that will always have Born This Way as the number 1 album, no matter what else she releases in the future (hopefully out-does herself) but new fans and younger fans will probably appreciate more the albums that she has not released yet. LilVenusian 579
5. True Blue- Such a great feel good summery pop album. Its the epitome of 80s Madonna. Every song could of been a smash. 4.Confessions on a Dance Floor- Her last great record from start to finish. Such an ambitious and well produced album that shows the potential of dance music. 3. American Life- Very underrated. Love how dark and gritty it is and the unusual mix of techno and folk. 2. Ray of Light- Beautiful, honest and raw. Really shows Madonna off as an amazing lyricist. 1.Like A Prayer- Masterpiece from start to finish. Love how every song sounds so unique and different but it all comes together and just makes sense. Its basically the holy grail of female pop.
