Envi 765
Emotional attachment to fictional character is normal, but to take it the extreme is questionable. it may seem that he isn't getting enough emotional support from his families and friends. Did he get bullied, did he lack the attention? We don't know. I've started watching Anime since I was 7 and up to this day, and boy I still enjoy it. It's always good to watch Anime with your friends or siblings because some Anime can be violent in nature and having someone with you means having some emotional support system, if needed. ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫
Seeka 12,372
For those of who don't honestly think that this could happen, most anime fans go through this phase. It's called being a weeaboo. There are several level of this, the most extreme phase being the definite, "I think anime/videogame/fictional characters" are real, and can last until the twenties. Upper twenties in some unfortunate cases. However, usually it doesn't get awful to that point, and if it does, it usually doesn't cause much trouble other than a person being annoying and weird. it is essentially a geeky (though more Japanese based) counterpart to girls being obsessed with male musicians/actors/celebrities, to the point they'd do awful things. That also means that they are willing to do meany things if the line between reality and fiction is blurry to them. Now, there is no victim blaming here. While the person did take his own life, there are probably unanswered questions here that we'll never get the answer to. The parents will probably realize that trying to get a ban on anime is stupid, as the anime market is very booming there (if Spanish dubs an subs are any indication) and the parents themselves will probably be incredibly mocked. maybe something will come out of this. There are some people who fortunately, never are weeabs, which is fortunate for them because us who have remember as the most embarrassing times of our lives. Shipper 13,114
We all have different ways to cope with our emotions. Some listen to music, some watch anime, some watch movies, some drink, and even do drugs just to escape reality. I think he got to a point where he felt lonely enough to think that being with this anime character is the ONLY thing that can make him happy. Since it's an ecchi anime, he probably got sexual gratification from it too but became sad that this character is not real and cannot be with him always. He probably hasn't formed any strong attachments to others and relied solely to this anime for emotional support. For short, he wants someone to love him and accept him and the only one who he thinks understands him is this character. It is sad how depression and loneliness could push a person to commit suicide. I can kinda understand how it feels like to be so into something not real that you lose yourself but people around you and responsibilities help you return back to reality. It's so sad he doesnt have that anchor to pull him back up to the surface. 🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶
