What comeback? I thought her phony bologna performance was just as bad as 2007s tbh. :nails:

Well you and Britney have something in common then. Every time you come around you're just as terrible as you've ever been :nails:

If j think that's diseased I'd hate to hear what you thought of the other performers that night, like Beyonce or Rihanna, or dear god Nicki Manaj.

I didn't watch the VMAs.

PartySick

All this shade being presented as if it were tea :smh:

She fell into hard times and even though she's had successful albums since her breakdown, she's never really gained the spotlight back. One of the most notable things during her 2007 episode was her bad VMA performance, so people labelled her 2016 VMA performance her "make it or break it comeback".

Tbh, if you ask me, she doesn't need a "comeback". She'll always have my respect for being strong in the face of all the b.s. I give her the same respect I extend to MJ because of the way the media treated him. I'm just glad she's still around to tell a story of triumph regardless of all the shallow people that want to put her down for not singing live. And at the end of the day, she's still a down to Earth mother, content with her life, and doing what she loves for a living while others either love her, ignore her, or try to drag her down to their level.

The queen remains unbothered :nick:

She's only had 3

1. Blackout, which despite the chart success was largely deemed a failure because of her personal problems of the time and failed VMA comeback

2. Circus, her successful return

3. Glory, because BJ was considered a flop commercially, critically, promo wise, etc.

arguably

her fans make every promo stunt a comeback, hence my original comment

No, thats the media that does that. Her fanbase at large gets annoyed that every era counts as a comeback. Britney also doesn't like it.

because this:

but even if you didn't enjoy her 2016 performance, at least note that she's enjoying it!

Walk down the runway but don't puke, it's okay. You just had 10 donuts today. Without frosting.

i guess I ignore that bc I'm far from being a fan of her but it must be annoying for them/her... I think they would think "what comeback, she already came back and she did it successfully" maybe?

It is, Britney said it best on the Today show last Thursday. She said she's doesn't feel it's a comeback because she's always been here

I finally watched the performance last night just to have an opinion and I thought it looked good for Britney Spears, especially in comparison to the abysmal performances she would put on at awards shows during the Femme Fatale era. This was clean cut and her body looks the best its looked in over a decade, which really is what makes a Britney performance if shes not dancing at peak ability. The problem is she came on after Beyonce, which is whats gotten everyone talking so negatively. Had she opened the show or had she came on before her I think people would be speaking in a different tune. Albeit theres always going to be comments about her lip-syncing or sexualised image etc. But at the end of the day she went up there and literally did her best which im totally okay with. Everyones doing too much.
