ImpossiblePrincess 3,867
Why? In my opinion i think it is a beautiful ballad and it is my favourite song off ARTPOP she sings it so personally That song will always have a part of me Discuss and say why you like / dislike it (i know because half of you like IWBWY more) I still do like IWBWY though Welcome to GagaDaily, it looks like things just got messgendary. AlexanderMagno 10,746
I don't really like IWBWY, so I'm happy that Dope made the cut. It's a beautiful ballad and it's incredibly well produced. Rick Rubin was a perfect choice and Gaga should consider do some more collaborations. I guess it's all about the voice... Sounds somewhat forced. But it couldn't be any other way I guess, it fits the song's concept, so it doesn't really bother me. I get why people dislike it, but it's not as bad as some might say. I don't understand how IWBWY can be better
Radio Ga Ga 5,671
Other than applause and dwuw, dope is my favorite on ARTPOP because it's so emotionally releasing. Ive realized that it's definitely not for everyone. I personally thought the vocals and the bass that came in second verse were weird the first few times I heard it, but the more i heard the more i could sink into the messiness and pain dope is all about. 2ndTimeAround 664
I think people thought the vocals were to deep and screamy, and more masculine And I do think they were, they were really a complete opposite side of the vocal spectrum in comparison to the vocals on the rest of the album I love Dope, its a lovely ballad But, i love I Wanna Be With You more, and the vocals on that are softer So people would have preferred that on the album more
Seeka 12,372
There's the entire "I heard this version first so it's better" which is why I Wanna Be With You is considered better. There's also the fact that many people have a near unhealthy obsession with Born This Way, which is what I Wanna be With You seems like an outtake from. There is also the fact that some people need to "relate" to a song. Which is bullsh!t because I doubt they can relate to every song they own. There is also the fact that some just don't like ballads. Dwightie 159
The song is great, Gaga's performances of it are also great, but Rick Rubin's production of it is sloppy. And I also think it's too honest for some fans, and they don't like the vocals because they are not electronic, so many kids today are so used to pop music which is so full of autotune and electronic vocals, they don't know what real vocals sound like. They've grown so accustomed to the autotuned vocals they think it's how people are supposed to sound, they don't realize real vocals sound like Gaga does in songs like Dope, and Till It Happens to You. abductee 162
I like most of the song, but I still cringe every time I hear the "lost my only friend" line. It's so... cheesy and terrible. Also I feel that Dope sounds unfinished. It builds up and up and then it just ends with no real climax. It could've been one of her best, but it just ended up feeling like a demo/outtake.
