"Enigma pop star". "G.I.R.L. = Guy In Romantic Love" well that's just made up. there's the Guy I'm Romancin' Loves part that isn't. "Sexxx Dreams" talks about bisexuality" she did say she wrote it after her gay friend told her about a sex dream he had about her, but literally the only lyric that matches that story is "I heard your boyfriend was away this weekend". it's about bisexuality as much as Speechless was about her dad's heart surgery. the song is obviously about being in a relationship that doesn't allow her to be sexually liberated. she feels broken and stuck. the bi part is just implied so that there's more layers to the song i.e. her ARTPOP could mean anything. "Donatella" talks about fashion in a very shallow way the song is about Donatella Versace's make-up and kitsch being misunderstood and the Versace brand being all about highlife grotesque. it's about Donatella and Gaga (who wore Versace during the extremely ironic FAME promotional campaign so that she can look like a decadent rich fame *****) being ironic with the ugliness of the superficial fashion world. More contrast: "Mary Jane Holland" is a very pro-drug song. lol it's about not being able to party every night i.e. go through the tour without getting high"Mary Jane Holland" parallels the Greek myth of Apollo and Daphne throughout the whole song, but particularity in the second verse. The key is when Gaga sings about "turning" into Mary Jane Holland the same way that Daphne turned into a tree in the story. could be but that's plain reaching. the MJH character is her true self (the brunette) so the Daphne to tree analogy would be random af

Dont you think she meant she killed Beyoncé? Her former friend? Left Beyoncé in the trunk of the *** Wagon on Highway 10? Nah in fact I always interpretated it as that she killed her old self (aka Stefanni) and started her Gaga life (That's why she says that if you find the knife send it to Hollywood). The person who wrote this is called Tulito Garcia. "The fact that ARTPOP was sexual doesn't take away from the fact that it was deep. ARTPOP was profoundly meaningful. The first lyric of the first song ("Aura") is "I killed my former and..." which was Gaga's way of saying that Born This Way Gaga was dead on this album. The bridge also serves as somewhat of a thesis for the whole album, identifying the five major themes and motifs in the upcoming songs ("dance, sex, art, pop, tech"). After this metaphorical DEATH, the second song is literally the BIRTH of Venus ("Venus"). The Venus character, a.k.a. the Goddess of Love, is who Gaga embodies in all of ARTPOP and basically in real life too. "G.U.Y." examines gender roles in our society and defines each in terms of the other (G.U.Y. = Girl Under You, G.I.R.L. = Guy In Romantic Love), and even equates a G.U.Y. to a CEO for the sake of the point being made. "Sexxx Dreams" talks about bisexuality as a crime using direct references to "1984," George Orwell's novel. (Also, little Medusa/erection joke in the bridge for those of you who caught that...) "MANiCURE" obviously isn't about a MANiCURE. It's about Gaga needing to be "man-cured." Kind of a continuation of "Sexxx Dreams." "Do What U Want" is literally a big middle finger to music critics. She's telling the critics to do what they want with her body of work (how the media skews the meaning of her songs, performances, music video, etc.) The chorus literally says, "Write what you want, say what you want about me, if you're wondering, know that I'm not sorry." That fact that many people dismiss it as just another sexual song EVEN THOUGH IT'S ACTUALLY NOT brilliant proves the point that the song is making. "ARTPOP" is at the middle of the album instead of being the opening song because it is the heart of the CD. In the FIRST VERSE art talks to pop ("Come to me, in all your glamour and cruelty...") and in the SECOND VERSE pop talks to art ("Come to me, with all your subtext and fantasy...") In the CHORUS, they come together as ARTPOP. "Swine" disguises the depression of RAPE under its upbeat EDM mask. It's very similar to "Monster" from The Fame Monster. Plus, nice "Lord of the Flies" reference at the end (a book where a swine head plays a very important role in the plot). "Donatella" talks about fashion in a very shallow way, while "Fashion!" talks about fashion in a very artistic and beautiful way.... Contrast!!! Plus, nice shout out to David Bowie's "Life on Mars" in the latter during the lyric, "There's life on Mars where the contour is beyond..." More contrast: "Mary Jane Holland" is a very pro-drug song while "Dope" is a highly anti-drug ballad. Also, "Mary Jane Holland" parallels the Greek myth of Apollo and Daphne throughout the whole song, but particularity in the second verse. The key is when Gaga sings about "turning" into Mary Jane Holland the same way that Daphne turned into a tree in the story. "Gypsy" is fan favorite, so I don't think I have to explain it. "Applause" is the metaphorical applause after the end of the performance that was ARTPOP. The song also criticizes the critics in the same way that "Do What U Want" did. Really, really pisses me off when people say ARTPOP wasn't deep. ARTPOP was incredibly misunderstood, which is actually quite ironic because a lot of the lyrics talk about that very thing. ARTPOP was very deep and conceptual. The general public and the the fake fans just don't like to think when they listen to music. Shame."
