The most successful male musicians ever have used selling sex as a crutch the same way modern female pop stars do. So where is it now? Why isn't Justin Bieber shaking his butt? Why isn't Nick Jonas touching himself? Why isn't Drake twerking along with Rihanna? It's almost as if they don't want to be associated with that kind of sexuality because they feel that that kind of sexuality is too low for their standards. Bebe 16,811
I mean I think about the male rockstars and male popstars back in the day, from Prince to Iggy Pop. Shirtless and pretty sexual. I mean even now I think women's bodies overall are generally more sexualised, I mean I have girl friends that wear short shorts and crop tops or sometimes decide to party in a bra and short shorts while I generally have a shirt and jeans on Women have been told for a long time that they are not allowed to be sexual in the way that men are. For a lot of these women celebrating their body and allowing themselves to be sexual beings is a liberating thing. Does Beyonce's leotards really count as sexual though?? I mean dancers and gymnasts have worn leotards for a very long time, it's pretty common attire... Part of the 'problem' might lie with other people who find such clothing inappropriate or immodest in some way.

What a silly point to make. I've been expecting this argument. You know it's such a convenient excuse. Because they are a 'different'. Huh. I'm really tired. I really hope you get my point, whether you agree or not, because you seem to think that I want to dumb down women. Not really. I'm just tired of women being treated like their sexuality can be exploited.

HOTNebraskaGuy 19,547
Because sex sells. Both straight men and straight women have different points of being satisfied. For (straight) girls all it takes is a guy to take off his shirt and maybe wear tight pants to make some headlines and get them to buy his record, but for (straight) guys it takes more cleavage and action to please. I don't know if that's the answer you wanted though. One, five, ten lay a million on me

I've never suggested that, so stop putting words in my mouth. But I think women should relook at how they want to sexualise themselves if they WANT to be seen as EQUAL. 1. It's 2016. Times change. I grow up in an era where girls are known for exposing themselves and wearing whatever they want. - It is 2016 and you still can't grasp the concept that women does stuff independent of how men perceive it. Literally the current times. What kind of reverse Warholian expedition are you in. Also, I think we grew up in the same generation, I don't understand why you're pointing this out. 2. Being sexual might be the new kind of inferiority. And that's based on my observations, since all the boys now want girls to be as sexual as possible for their enjoyment. - You have got to stop centering your ideas on men. Should women change their views according to what men thinks? That is oppression. That is literally what that are fighting against. 3. I'm far from being old-fashioned. - You're not being old fashioned, you're being a misogynist. 4. I don't think women should always be clothed. I've never suggested that, so stop putting words in my mouth. - If you could just spend a little bit more time comprehending what I wrote, I never put anything in your mouth (I don't think I'd be going anywhere near that, thank you). I was discussing the general societal views on women, so 5. But I think women should relook at how they want to sexualise themselves if they WANT to be seen as EQUAL. - Instead of asking women to change how they want to carry, express, and assert themselves, I suggest you take issue with how men react to these things. As I have said, you have got to stop centering your ideas on men. You have got to stop thinking that women should work inside the consciousness, the ideals, the opinions of men. Obviously, there are other ways wherein women can assert and further gender equality, but why must sexuality be an exception? Does it make you uncomfortable? Another bottomline to this is live and let live. Stop trying to limit others - gender, race, social standing - based on any ideal. Girls wanna strip? I can respect that. Boys does that too? I can respect that. Why? Because everyone is equal and has free will.
