Fairy Dust (Tove Lo) and The Odyssey (Florence + the Machine)

So I just watched Tove Lo's Cool Girl, and I really really liked both the song and the music video, which seems to be the set up for a larger set of interconnected videos for Fairy Dust: Lady Wood Phase I.

 

Now, a lot of the cinematography, particularly the quick shots of future videos (at 3:50) and the choreography really reminded me of Florence and the Machine's The Odyssey, specifically some shots during Delilah (at 37:10) and Third Eye (40:45).

What do you think? I don't mean this to be against Tove Lo- I'm a fan of both, and definitely am a fan of the direction of where Lady Wood is going. That said, what are your thoughts?

The Odyssey is an outstanding film and I can only hope Tove comes up with something as inspiring and well thought as that.

whilst Phase 1: Cool Girl seems to be just pointless self-fashioning with lack of causing curiosity so far the Odyssey really touches you from the very beginning and tells a deep, intense, pure story. just my opinion and Iwish the best for Tove to turn this short film into an interesting story helping her to define  her image as an artist more and withdraw from others

I agree! I absolutely love everything about The Odyssey. In fact, I honestly think it's legitimately worthy of many awards, if it gets nominated (I'm assuming it is qualifiable for next year's Grammys?)?

Cool Girl gives me a gist of it, and honestly feels like it's directly referencing the work on The Odyssey, so I'm still curious.

I'm pretty sure Tove's a fan of Florence, so if she was inspired I wouldn't be the least surprised. I'd never seen The Odyssey before, nor heard the album it came from even tho I have it, but I just watched it. I can definitely see what you are saying, but I think Fairy Dust will be different in that Tove's more into hedonism and self destructiveness. She also more in your face about stuff. I think it's far more likely to be in the vein of chasing excesses with a "**** the consequences, let's do this" attitude. Think of a cross between Habits and Moments videos. That's just a guess tho. From what I seen it looks to include masturbation, clubbing, drugs, girl on girl, sex, sex, sex, a car crash, maybe voyeurism.

@FMB oh definitely, yeah. I'm actually really excited to see where she goes with it! Her writing is very much reminiscent of "typical pop material", but to a (as you said it) self-destructive extreme- that's exactly why I love Habits (both the song and the video).

The cinematography seems very similar, is all.
