Miracle 14,068
As Gaga has delivered some details on the new song that really caught my interest, I'm going to write a short essay about what I think the song is going to be. As a person who suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder, I found something really relatable to what she describes. "The song is about modern ecstasy . . . .We found our sweet, simple, ragey way of saying it": BPDs and other people who suffer from manic depression (like Gaga, for example) suffer through massive injections of ectasy that lead to a letdown...highest of highs and lowest of lows in a relationship gone wrong. That's the way we function. We tend to idealize and misunderstand the concepts of love and hold to them as if they were our only source of life. When love (the desired object) starts dissapearing, we enter into a void of depression until we find another desired object. We create a perfect illusion that shatters as time weakens the walls of desire. " the trio worked on the heartbreak anthem at Shangri-La Studios in Malibu, California" Unstable relationships is another trait of BPDs / people with Manic depression and other pathologies. Every one suffers from heartbreak as the feeling of being desired is an instict, an animal indeed, but some do more than others. As I mentioned before, a person with such illness would tend to think "there's only one desire object which it's going to save her life", so, losing it means a massive blue mood. As a Gaga fan I can recalla few times where Gaga has expressed a huge feeling of abandonment, especially with his failed relationships (As said by her in a Vanity Fair interview). Her past drug abuse could also lead to a song about this I may be reaching but I think the message Gaga will send with the song will be deeper than the message we initially think it delivers. We'll just have to wait and see!
SEANGT 5,403
that's a really great interpretation! I think when the song drops that will definitely be one valid way to look at it. I suffer from some of the symptoms of BPD, though I've never been able to get any help or diagnosed. I'd love a song like that.
Noam Zioni 1,201
Interesting read, I like the idea tbh, and I hope Gaga goes back to what's good for her
Katie14 4,828
I think that would be really interesting. I do hope the song is about more than just a relationship with a lover. I feel like that could turn cliche or cheesy. "Perfect Illusion" can potentially be about so many interesting topics (the music industry, the media, fame, adulthood, dreams, ect). Killa 17,685
YAASS And don't forget she was reading psichology books last year. She's getting very real this year, she's facing her problems and we welcome it very much. It's never easy to live with a person who has maniac crises, i don't if she's borderline, bipolar, wherever, there's no doubt that she suffers from great unstability, the highs are very high and the lows, well i prefer not to think about it. I hope she had found the courage to writte about this. This topic hits home and somehow i always knew why i identified myself with Gaga.
