She pushed the announcement to today instead of in a week or so, so that people realized she wouldn't be performing at the VMAs

I know, I was really hoping she would perform there. I see her reasons why she doesn't want to though. It will also be such a huge night for so many others, maybe it's for the best. She wants to shine on her own

The VMAs are the very reason Gaga was catapulted into mainstream pop culture at the rate that she was. That show is the only place that would allow an artist to fully represent themselves artistically and create something memorable and it been seen and talked about. It's THE place to create those iconic performances. Why in the world would Gaga and her team release a new single after 3 years and skip the most well known televised award show!? She would own the night! VMAs or Bust.

I think/hope she'll premiere the song there and either do Apple Music exclusive streaming for a week and then release it, or just wait a week and release it (that'd be dumb tho).

Or if the conspiracy theories are true, the song will be released before the VMA's and she'll do a regular performance 

maybe a music video snippet at the vma's that will get everyone talking then release it in september at the apple event with a special performance so many people watch the apple event live stream
