I can't stand internet activists making a big deal out of things that aren't important. Black people get killed everyday and they're worried about a harmless joke that wasn't even about race in the first place :madge:

......seriously......

People find stuff to complain about. Ellen is the farthest thing from racist, and the joke was harmless

Haroon

I had to think deeply and stare at this for quite a while to find the racism angle that this could be seen from :duck: Not quite sure what to say to be honest, I mean it's just a facepalm thing and not much else

This is the moment where some people might say "She wouldn't make the same joke if he were white." But that is precisely what I'd argue against. This idea that whites would somehow treat minorities better if they were like them is 9 times out of 10 complete rubbish. There is rarely any actual proof given of better treatment for the same thing given to whites, it's just sheer paranoia. I don't know why some people are so arrogant that they think they can see into other people's heads to work out their motivations and intentions for everything.

Fastest man in the world = jump on their back and you'd get everywhere faster, that's it. If he was white, no one would have said a thing. The only race angle that some people might see is that Ellen's a white person using a black person for a service (running errands), akin to slavery. But whites have used other whites for services since the dawn of time, so what gives? I remember during the London 2012 Paralympics, someone tweeted in a joke about the concept of blind sprinters running with a guide tied to them - "Why don't they just tie themselves to Jessica Ennis?" The presenters kinda paused for a second and then went, "I think they just mean that she's fast so they'd win easily with her as their guide." And that was it, we had a laugh, we moved on. But some people are just so mindblowingly sensitive, determined to see fault in anything. You need to ask yourself - "If they were white, would this joke be offensive?" If not, then why on earth is there a double standard when the race is non-white?

You are seriously over analyzing this, there are lots of things that happen that are actually racist. This is simply not it. chill

My whole post is saying that it's not racist and you've unfortunately misinterpreted it.
