I don't think so.

My opinion is that Gaga waited too long. She had no competition the last few months. Ah well. 2017 here we come

Rise was a let down to many.

I think more people are eagerly waiting Gagas retune then a new Katy album.

hard to tell bc if Gaga's music isn't pop-y, who knows how it'll be perceived

I don't think so...

Gaga has been gone for a long time and the last time she was around it was precisely Katy who, to the GP, beat her. So I don't think, if there's a direct competition between them, Gaga can outsell Katy...

The best approach, I believe, would be to avoid direct competition (so the new album can be judged on its artistic merits instead of how much it sold) and try to deliver the best work she possibly can...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

of course

if the music will be appealing to GP and there will be no hiccups in promo everything is possible. Katy is not as invincible as she appears to be.

She's not the unstoppable force she used to be with Unconditionally, Birthday and This is how we do all having lackluster success compared to allt he #1's from Teenage Dream. But her last lead single was huge so who's to say really. In the end anyone can beat anyone by having a good song (or even by not having a good song).

Gaga will serve quality and talent, that's enough for me

As long as Gaga serves quality music, i'll be very much happy and satisfied.

going back to the topic, i think she can't. Katy serves "super relatable ear-friendly candy kindegarten simple lyric with bubble bops and child-friendly" music so it'll appeal to more people.

I think Gaga will get more deep and super mature with the rock/funk/psychedelic genre so it might still get successful, but maybe not as much as katy.

but who knows, really? :giggle:
