Double Dutchess On Delay?

So with the major floppage of "M.I.L.F. $", is Double Dutchess now on delay YET AGAIN? M.I.L.F. $ only spent 3 weeks on the chart before being knocked out. About 1/7 the time that "L.A. Love" spent on the chart and even that was called a flop.

It's clear an album was on the horizon and now...nothing.

My question is...did Fegie and her team not realize this wouldn't be radio friendly? I just don't get the choice.

If the rest is as bad as the lead single she can keep it

I actually really enjoyed MM so I'm hoping the album still happens!

My theory is that Dr. Luke produced most of the original Double Dutchess. So she redid it because of his terrible press.

But I don't think MILF $ will delay it even more

What is good for her album campaign is that M.I.L.F. $ is replaced as a promotional single for buzz. Release a decent good single like Glamours, and Clumsy. Something that is actually GOOD. The album campaign is most likely paused, because no hype is surrounding it. It wouldn't even chart in the Top 10 with the horrible M.I.L.F. $.

I love Fergie with all my life and have literally loved her since the late 80's when I was a child!! She's my original fave. I've been with her thru Kids INC, Wild Orchid, BEP, and her solo success. But, for me, there are 3 major factors working against her with this project...

#1 - "LA Love" was a f-cking bop. And it was produced by the hottest producer of the moment, DJ Mustard. It was supposed to be a surefire smash hit (and I LOVE it). But, for reasons still unknown, it flopped hard. This shook Fergie & team to their core and made them re-evaluate everything they believed about how to promote her.

#2 - She has relied on the brilliance of Will.I.Am for too long. And Will.I.Am has not been relevant in pop music for ages now. And she knows this, so she has tried to branch out... and it didn't work... So she's returned to him...  She can't win with him, and she can't win without him.

#3 - Our girl Fergie is looking old. She still looks sexy as hell, and this is not an attempt to shade her with ageism or sexism. But time is taking its toll on her appearance and it makes her look a little silly trying to pass herself off as a young edgy starlet. She still looks divine in her videos and photo shoots, but in person, she definitely looks like a 40-year-old white woman trying desperately to appeal to 20-something audiences by laying it on thick with attempts at proving her urban credibility. It just doesn't work... Not a good look.

I disagree on the last one. I think she looks hot as hell in those photos. Hope I look that good when I'm 40!

I hear you!! I am 33 and I already don't look that good!! She is smoking hot and holding up extremely well!

But... point is, she can no longer pass herself off as part of the "under 35" pop starlet crowd anymore. She needs to be maturing her sound and her aesthetic. This is not to say she can't record urban bops (she absolutely should!)... But she needs to own her age, rather than try to pretend like she's someone she's not. There is so much musical talent living inside this woman, I just want her to release it, rather than keep chasing trends in an attempt for relevance.

(damn, that came off shady as hell...)

Sorry, I'm not explaining myself well. I just want the best for her and for her authenticity to shine thru! In my mind, she is one of the few pop acts who is the "real deal."

OMG on this point. I have to say. When I saw the MILF $ videoshoot episode on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Fergie looked NOTHING like she did in the video. She looked SOO much older on KUWTK. Clearly the video edited her. I was like ughh girl, be proud of ur age.

:what: First of all, you already look good in my eyes.

:what: You're 33, and I'm shocked about that.

:what: Keep slaying, because you're definitely my Top 3 of my favorite members on this site. Never said anything negative about other people's opinions, but positive thoughts to them. What I like about you is that you respect every one is from each generation, and they fit in their own world.

:saladga: I still can't believe you're 33.
