Gaga's Career Direction....

Gaga is not a pop star, or at least that is not her only "job".  She is a throwback to all around entertainers such as Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Streisand, Cher, Liza, Judy Garland, etc.   If your concept of Gaga's career is that she should only worry about being the HBIC pop star, then I think you are not being realistic about Gaga or her career to this point.

A quick recap.  Winning Jazz competitions at an early age.  Clearly a theatre girl throughout her school years, her voice is obviously trained for theatre.   DRAMA major at Tisch.  Small acting roles throughout her early years including Sopranos, etc.  All her early demos are rock influenced singer songwriter material.  All her earliest performances are rock based stuff.  Her earliest work with Fusari is heavily Beatles influenced rock based material ( Oh Well, Let Love Down, etc).   She moved to pop when it was clear that was the  only way she was going to be able to break into the industry, although I do think she loves that genre as well and the expression she can get from it. Then we have some wildly successful pop albums.  Then a successful vocal jazz collaboration and tour with Tony.  Various small acting roles culminating in AHS.  Awaiting another "pop" album, and another Tony Collab, and more AHS as confirmed projects.

I mean, I think she's made it pretty clear at this point that pop will not be her only focus and has never been her only focus except for a relatively short period during her life.  

We know two major things about Gaga... she hates being "boxed in", and she loves to challenge herself with new projects.

What I expect from her career going forward is that Gaga will continue to release music in a variety of genres, depending on her own wishes for her career and what is important to her at the time.  However, I don't expect her to play the "pop game" to the level of Katy or Taylor Swift, because I don't think that is her priority anymore.  She will make music that is meaningful and important to her.   Music will be released on HER schedule, because she will also be doing acting roles on TV and movies.  I fully expect a Broadway stint at some point, because it's in her DNA.  

TL/DR: If you need Gaga to be HBIC pop girl, then you are probably going to be disappointed with her future endeavors.  If on the other hand you enjoy watching a talented woman explore her boundaries in a variety of fields, then Gaga is a great choice of someone to watch.

As i have said before, she just needs some encouragement from us, her 'fans' to pursue whatever she wishes for! And some of us including me will always support her for her endeavours cuz thats what makes her an exciting artist!

I've stopped caring about Gaga's pop career tbh. Call me an arrogant Little Flopster but she's miles ahead of the other pop girls in terms of sheer talent. Putting her in the same category as Katy, Rih, Ariana, Bey, etc is a crime against humanity

Yeah Lady Gaga is a superstar not a pop star, but if her future ventures are too different and difficult to grasp and enjoy then she will have little success. She knows how to get the balance right. And I can't wait for her next LG5 record, I need some gaga lyrics in my life, and I'm excited for her other events such as C3C too!

I guess it won't be straight up pop anymore. She'll be a pop girl still, just like how Beyoncé is a pop girl even with the lack of radio-friendly songs. What matters most to me is the quality of her work—I always believe that of the material is good and is appealing, no matter what the genre is it will sell.

She'll still be consider a "pop diva", which kind of sucks because she's done so many things that other pop girls haven't, and she's definitely shown that she doesn't fit a "specific mold". 

Honestly though, people who think that she's going to solely go back to pop are delusional. She's definitely trying to rebrand herself, and hopefully her new album will do it justice.

I think so too. She's more creative and mentally powerful than any popstars this generation. Her Artistry is beyond the level of basic popstars
