The early days of house music

All this talk about "Who's Your Favorite Drag Queen" has me inspired... and listening to old voguing classics. I know, this is GGD (which is precisely why I'm posting it here). Please remember, Gaga is most well known for being our Top 40 pop savior of house music.

So with that, let's remember the original 80's house music scene. There is still nothing like the originals :diane: :air: :firega:

1987 - "Break 4 Love" by Raze

1989 - "French Kiss" by Lil Louis

1983 - "On and On" by Jesse Saunders

I love house music! From the early days to all the permutations that followed.

Here's the track that a lot of people claim to be the very first. Released in its final form in 1985.

Jamie Principle- Waiting on my Angel

Reese & Santonio- Rock to the Beat

Frankie Bones & Lenny Dee - Just as long as I got you

Sampling a guitar and a scream from Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love.

Todd Terry - Weekend

Todd Terry - Bango (to the Batmobile)

Here's a rare one! With the campest intro *ever*

The Look - Glammer Girl

By DJ Danny Tenaglia. Hard to keep track of them with all these monikers.

Project 4007 - It's Out Turn (Dj. Duke's Acid Groove)

Bought this on double 12" import just for these four minutes of Roland TB-303 acid squigglyness. They used to play this at Srockholm's Monday Bar, the club that made me come to work in a terrible state on tuesdays.

I remember hearing a House song from the 90s the other day and then hearing a contemporary one on the radio and the difference was really cool tbh. I personally prefer the bass filled modern songs but some of the older sound still exists like in RuPaul's latest album and Gorgon City's music tries to keep it alive.

Evelyn Thomas - High Energy (1983)

P Lion - Happy Children (198*)

Those are more Dance but High Energy was pioneer in House music, 7 milion records sold, and it's now forgotten. It's one of my fave songs of all time. Masterpiece
