Roe v. Wade overturned if Trump elected- Mike Pence

Mike Pence has never exactly been at the forefront of women's health. Before he was Donald Trump's vice-presidential nominee, he passed a lawin Indiana requiring fetal remains to be cremated or buried, likely at the cost of the patient, whether they were from an abortion or a miscarriage. He's also blocked funds from Planned Parenthood, tried to shut down abortion clinics, and banned private-insurance coverage of abortion ... and he doesn't exactly get how condoms work, either.

In other words, he's a blatant opponent of abortion access. So it was unsurprising, if still disheartening, when he promised to repeal Roe v. Wade should he and Trump be elected. According to the Los Angeles Times, he said as much during a campaign stop in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

“I’m pro-life and I don’t apologize for it,” he said during a town-hall meeting. “We’ll see Roe vs. Wade consigned to the ash heap of history where it belongs.”

@jdindc Yep.  And since a lot of miscarriages happen in the first month or two which happen to look a lot like normal menstruation... Hoosier women have been calling to check with the governor's office before throwing their tampons or pads into the garbage can... so they don't get arrested later on for failure to hold a funeral for what they assumed was their period but could've contained a fertilized egg, e.g. "baby."  Ugh, this guy really is a creep.

Trump Supporters please get to me with how you are rationalizing this away, or just say you believe the same... whether you are actually women or not :smh:

Overturning that Supreme Court decision would be a literal death sentence and Trump would have blood on his hands.  Don't people understand that making abortion illegal will not stop abortions from happening?  You're only putting women at risk for the lethal complications that come with home abortions.  There are states as it is with only one or two abortion clinics which is already outrageous.

Trump cannot win.

If you are eligible to vote, please think about what you are doing before you actually go vote.

The GOP doesn't care if you throw facts and evidence in its face :smh: Some of them will outright deny it to your face or make up some BS to defend it.

Its like that Voter ID strike down some days ago... was it in NC? anyway they said it was clearly discriminatory, but if asked about it the GOP would be like *shrug*

Reasons to never vote for that party :neyde:

And? Hillary wants to overturn District of Columbia v. Heller.

Actual Hillary quote: "The Supreme Court is wrong".

Don't pretend Christian Republicans are the only ones who disrespect Supreme Court decisions.

But it's not even about overturning a Supreme Court decision?? Progressive movements want the Citizens United Supreme Court decision overturned

You seem to be missing the point, the problem people have isn't that he wants to overturn or 'disrespect' a Supreme Court decision. I've seen nobody in this thread whose focus is "I can't believe he disagrees with a Supreme Court Decision!!!" People are upset at WHAT Mike Pence wants to overturn. People are concerned about women and women's rights being taken away.

I'm concerned about all American's rights being taken away. District of Columbia v. Heller was not a corporate law and campaign regulation case, it was a civil rights case.

:smh: You can go ahead and complain about Hillary's perspective of District of Columbia v. Heller all you want, but you're basically yelling about gun rights in a thread that's about women's reproductive rights. Hillary isn't going to fight to overturn the decision, she said so herself, but it's not really relevant anyhow.

Again, nobody in this thread is expressing anger that Mike Pence disagrees with a Supreme Court decision. So when you are replying to people like "BUT HILLARY ALSO DISAGREES WITH THE SUPREME COURT!! DON'T BE HYPOCRITES!!" You miss the point.

While everyone in this thread is discussing how they find Mike Pence's position on abortion and women's issues disgusting and backwards, you are defending Pence from non-existent criticism that he shouldn't be disrespecting any supreme court decisions. Nobody here has made that criticism. You are trying make this about whether Pence or Hillary should disrespect Supreme Court decisions because that's the only argument you could feasibly win on considering Hillary has expressed distaste on certain court decisions.

Unfortunately for you, nobody is concerned with that - they are not attacking him on that. They are concerned about his opposition to a very particular decision that is vital to the preservation of women's rights, personal freedom, bodily integrity, and privacy. They are concerned with his attacks on women's rights, they are not concerned with any perceived disrespect to the supreme court.

Your discussion of Hillary and District of Columbia v. Heller just seem completely off topic. You are just trying to divert conversation away from the backwards and dangerous ideologies of Pence. It seems like either you cannot defend Pence's statements, or you find his position on abortion and women's rights acceptable.

Hillary Clinton JUST said explicitly in an interview yesterday that she does not want to overturn Heller, believes the individuals right to own guns is in fact a right, and would NOT appoint someone to the court who would do so.

Can you stop pretending to care about "American's rights being taken away" now? :smh:

Here's my point, boiled down to the basics:

On this site, I hear a lot of criticism of Trump/Pence when it comes to civil rights. On this site, I hear little or no criticism of Hillary/Kaine. It seems some people don't value rights they aren't interested in.

-Hillary Clinton

So she flip-flopped, like y'all accuse Trump of doing. He JUST said explicitly that he'd "protect our LGBTQ citizens". Yet people still are suspicious of him on gay rights.
