Hands to Myself was the only good video IMO, the rest were pretty boring. I personally loved the Into You video so I'm happy it snatched a couple of noms. The official video for Rise hasn't been released yet so it wasn't. Maybe next year

They ignored Marry The Night, GUY and Telephone as long videos, and as soon Beyonce releases a long video, they create this category. Come on MTV! You better give the Video Vanguard award to Gaga, you've been crap since 2010. 

Oh and there's so many fans stating that Beyoncé has done history with 11 nominations... Sorry? Gaga had 13, she's still the most nominated female in one night. Take a seat.

 Formation caused mass discussion and controversy when it dropped and is one of the best music videos of the past decade. Hotline Bling was huge when it was released last year. You could barely go on social media without seeing some sort of meme of it. It was everywhere. Sorry was everywhere earlier this year and the music video is instantly recognisable

Because Gaga was the only one doing long videos back in 2010/11  Plus Telephone was acknowledged and even won a couple. She wouldn't have had competition back then. Whilst Lemonade seems the obvious choice to win the "long video" award, music films are becoming more common and so they obviously felt they needed to make a category because several artists have produced them the past year.

Lemonade caused discussion because they all cared about Becky and the couple issue, not because they appreciated it as a work of art. Lets be honest

When she released BTW they created a video with a message categorie, we can't complain about it.

There are not really big big big artists fighting for the awards at the same time probably, the full list in 2010 included Gaga, Katy, Beyonce, Kesha, Drake, Bieber, Muse, Paramore, Jay Z, Eminem,  David Guetta, Akon, Coldplay, Gorillaz, Pink, Gren Day, Florence, Rihanna, Derulo, even Ninki, I mean  Now you only have like 3/4 people fighting all the awards, it's almost obvious to see who will win what.

K first off formation was causing controversy two months before any of that other stuff was even up for debate, and second of all it brought racial issues to the forefront for everyone

The Becky and Jay Z drama was in the Lemonade film, not the Formation video which was released over 2 months earlier... The whole recognising New Orleans creole culture and addressing police brutality was what caused discussion.
