lego 44,165
A man is believed to have shot dead his wife and daughter before turning the gun on himself near a swimming pool in a small market town. The horror unfolded near Castle Swimming Pool in Spalding, Lincolnshire, when Lance Hart killed partner Claire, 50, and 19-year-old daughter Charlotte. Officers and paramedics battled to save the two women who they found gravely injured at around 9am on Tuesday. Mr Hart, 50, a delivery driver for a builders' merchants, was already dead, and no shots were fired by police. Investigators raided the family home in Hatt Close, Moulton, where one neighbour described Mr Hart as "always caring" and a "very nice guy." The resident, who gave his name as Peter, said: "Lance worked as a delivery driver for a builders' merchants - we've had quite a bit of stuff from them - but he was always caring and would come around afterwards to see whether we could carry stuff. "Last time I spoke to him, he had put the house on the market because they were hoping to downsize, buy somewhere in the village. He was a very nice guy, he went out of his way to be helpful so it comes as a great shock. "He was full of the joys of spring. His kids had left home and they were going to downsize and find a bungalow in the village." http://www.itv.com/news/2016-07-19/gunman-swimming-pool-spalding/ 19-year-old Charlotte FreePalestine

Yep..."He was very nice, until he shot his whole family" is like saying "Sure, Hitler killed six million ppl, but have you seen his paintings? So cute!" ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

Dominic 11,922
Such sadness, how a man can shoot his own child... Makes you wonder if he had severe mental issues or something because it seems OOC judging by the speakers. Their comments shouldnt be included at all, no sympathetic comments should be included for someone who just murdered his wife and daughter. It's gross. It's gross. Those details aren't for the sake of sympathy, they're to express shock and the fact that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Even "nice" people could have a mental break down and kill others.

What I'm trying to say is that once such a violent crime is committed, the behavior of the perpetrator becomes so utterly unimportant that it's kind of hilarious that journalists always make sure to include that "he was a nice person until that tragic afternoon" passage to make the story more dramatic... Goosey 3,017
Does this really belong in "World News"? A middle aged Englishman killed his family in a murder-suicide... I'm sure there were hundreds of such incidents this week. What's there to discuss? Just saying.
