Wow , I've always thought it was a good album and it seems to be GGD's fav Britney album but when I examined it for every song every beat every lyric, I feel so much work has been put into it, to create this dark sultry vibe, it's not just verse chorus bridge, the album plays tricks with you and the production is so hypnotic, never heard anything like it, not from the past nor from today. It's like her , Danja , Bloody Shy and Avant had this clear perspective of what the album was gonna be, it's cohesive, dynamic and refreshing.

Songs like Get Naked, Gimmie More, Break The Ice, Perfect Lover  what are they even, it's like there is so much mystery and seduction in this album, I find with every listen, I'm trapped in this realm, where Britney's mental pain is turned into pleasure and Britney's growth as a woman is a mantra. This album echoes till today and has its listener engaged from song 1, every song has a meaning, at first glance all the songs may be about pleasure and sex but if you dig deep, you'll hear and feel her pain, her aim to expose the industry's dark secrets with this rejuvenating sound.

Truly a masterpiece in my opinion and an album we have yet to see a similar offering to it from anyone

Femme Fatale is better. I don't like the whole album as I do with some others.

I would also like to point out

Gimmie More is the true self-poking song, Blank Space who

Love the dark satire of that song, It speaks volumes of the monstrous nature of the industry

No. It's so overrated by stans online. Whilst a great album and Britney's best, I don't understand why people act as if it's a groundbreaking, never-before-been-done body of work that deserves countless awards and endless acclaim.

However: Gimme More, POM, BTI, Freakshow >>>

Thing is I can make a counter-argument , many people say this album is overrated and doesn't deserve that much acclaim by fans then can I know what albums do :toofunny:

Surely from the millions of albums, there should be masterpieces that stand out ?

Because it literally ushered in the more electronic dance music before even gaga. It's tremendously underrated so fans like to point out and revolutionary it was for its time. and it was

90% of the album's appeal is it's production. Look past that and it's a generic pop album with the same old songs. Art also shouldn't need context to be enjoyable. Somebody who had never heard of Brit's breakdown wouldn't understand the deeper points of the album. In other words it doesn't stand on it's own. That being said the production alone is enough to make it a great album on it's own. Just not one of the greatest albums ever like stans like to pretend it is.

Off-Topic does any one know why Radar was carried over to Circus and released as single years later

no, completely overrated by the fans. And outside the fan communities, it is not considered as such a great album

I've seen it be claimed to be a masterpiece/ far more times than I've seen it called overrated. It deserves some acclaim, but not to the level of being called a masterpiece and all that. It may be Britney's masterpiece, which is ironic as she had little to no involvement in the actual making of the album, but it certainly hasn't earned the title of a masterpiece amongst albums in general just yet, in my opinion. Give it a few more years.

It really is not tremendously underrated. It's constantly fawned over by stans and was overlooked by critics because Britney was an absolute mess when it came out and so it tends to be forgotten, but it still gets mentioned. EDM was a thing before Blackout and I hate all this "ahead of its time" bollocks. It's a pretty standard electronic dance pop album. Wasn't the first of its kind and certainly won't be the last.

The producers made a deal with Britney's team to release it as a single but Britney was such a mess during the Blackout era (losing custody of her kids, being taken out of her own home on a stretcher, shaving her head etc.) that the era ended and so to keep the deal they put it on Circus and released it. Kind of funny because it flopped regardless and so all the fuss was for nothing.

Yes. It's anniversary is next year. I hear Britney will perform Gimme More in the same outfit but different body and hair and do the dance moves. It will be perfect. Then she will glide into Make Me Oh... that's what one of my connections said you know cause we all have connections around here. :queenga:

It charted really well in some markets despite not even being released as a single. There's some dated rumors of team Brit being contractually obligated to release it as a single but they were never substantiated.

I think it was one of her favorite songs from Blackout and was originally suppose to be a third single, but scrapped because Break The Ice ended up being the last single and then she started working on Circus.

I love the album, and it sounded like nothing else going on around that time, but yeah, I do think it's overrated. It has some great songs, but I don't hear anyone besides people on pop forums and like, Britney lovers that adore this album.
