Well since Kesha is going broke from legal fees and can't make money because of doctor luke, it probably helps a whole lot :p

It's been a long time coming, honestly. It's not one thing you can point to and say "this is why we hate Taylor Swift!" and that's why finding random counterexamples doesn't work or address people's dislike for her.

First, she comes off as entitled. She overreacts to small slights where any reasonable person would "shake it off." Remember when a critic reviewed her harshly (something that happens to every artist ever) and she wrote a song about how he was a horrible person and someone must have hurt him in his past for him to be such a soulless monster? Or when she cried over not winning Album of the Year? Sometimes good applicants to schools get rejected even if they meet the qualifications, but you can't cry over every school that rejects you. Oh, her comment about how "there's a special place in hell for women who insult other women" when some comedians did what comedians do and mocked celebrities didn't earn her any friends either.

She's perceived as inauthentic. Like her interest in feminism, which amounted to just parading around with a bunch of conventionally attractive, mostly white women. When she responded to that Nicki Minaj quote (once again - why does she feel the need to react to every slight?), some people took it as another example of "white feminism" making it all about her. Her lawsuit phase did nothing to help; when somebody attacks fans, that's losing goodwill, plain and simple. Multimillion dollar corporations like Nintendo realized this and offer some leniency on fans. Her taking her music off Spotify because they didn't pay her enough and then making it all about "the little guy" was seen not as an honest plea for the compensation of small-time musicians, but a calculated ploy to cover up her own greed.

And on top of that, she's successful. Taylor haters resent her success, there's no mistake about it. Her music is nothing revolutionary, it's not innovative, and yet it wins compared to actual boundary-pushers like Kendrick Lamar. Has Taylor Swift ever set the pace in music? 1989 isn't very different from Teenage Dream in concept, yet Taylor Swift has 7 grammies and Katy has none. Taylor is, let's face it, a mediocre singer at best, not an exceptional instrumentalist... she writes catchy melodies and relatable lyrics, but so do plenty of other songwriters. Why does she get all the applause when other supposedly "superior" musicians have to struggle for recognition?

It's a package deal. I didn't mention her serial monogamy because I don't think it's really that important (but I don't think it's normal for someone to date as many people as she have; I'm in that age group and most people I know don't change relationships that quickly, nor do they seem to hate being single), other than with regards to her inauthenticity (getting together with celebrities to profit off their fame, then write a song about them cuz she knows fans and tabloids love the drama). There's nothing you can say to convince a Taylor hater. Whether she donates to charity is irrelevant (not to mention that plenty of actually awful people donate to charity; it's not a "get out of jail free" card for any dickish behavior). She was everywhere the past few years. And now they see a chance for public opinion to turn on her? You bet people tired of her are gonna jump on that.

I don't like her, not at all, but wanting to see her fail isn't a nice feeling to have. It's as petty as Taylor blasting a critic through song. I think if she maybe stays out of the headlines for a bit, it'll calm down.

I didn't have anything against her until Hiddleswift. I used to think her music was bland and basic, and I just didn't pay her much attention because of that. But then she ditched her boyfriend of 15 months and hooked up with another guy two weeks later (parading him in front of paparazzi that she probably called up). It's harsh, mean-spirited, and childish. After that, everything that Kanye, Kim K and Katy Perry said about her suddenly made sense.

Taylor and Calvin have done nothing wrong, just what they were told to do. I mean guys, everything related to Taylor is a huge PR stunt, from her relationships (the one with Tom is a f***ing joke) to her feuds. If anything bothers me is how shady she is and how people continue to buy her drama.

I the the Calvin/Taylor thing is just what happens when business is mixed with personal life, so I'm not really gonna mention it to much.

But I'll be honest, i love the ever generic 1989 and her other forays into actual pop besides the country music she used to do.

However I'll admit, she seems inauthentic. While I won't say much about other people, taylor must have a mental instability or something similar where she can easily hop from a long lasting relationship to another.

And the trademark thing was awful as hell. you can't trademark words for gods sake.
