Who the **** voted for Taylor Swift? :saladga:

But I genuinely think Gaga is the best. Strongest, most hard-hitting voice IMO, and also most versatile.

Myth X has the best voice but she is not a very good technician, she strains and abuses her voice too much.

Beyoncé is probably the best technically but i prefer Gaga's voice a lot more.

REALITY

I voted for Gaga :hor:

But I do really think that Gaga is an excellent vocalist, by no means am I an expert in singing, but I really do think that out of the mentioned vocalists, she is the best. She may not have the best technical voice, but she sure as hell as character. You know when it's Gaga singing—unless it's the fake leaks that everyone meltdowns over. She's also very versatile in her singing (pop, jazz, rock, etc.), and has the integrity and spirit of a true artist.

I'm actually surprised that no one has said Sia or Amy Winehouse yet. While I do think Sia's biggest "problem" is her vocal technique (i.e. the cracks in her voice and all), I think it just overall enhances her voice and gives her music character. Like Gaga, you know when Sia's singing. Her vibrato is excellent; her high notes, of course are flawless, and she just genuinely makes great music—not surprising though, she's written for the biggest singers ever. Amy, like Gaga and Sia, has an incredibly unique voice, which in a way reminds me of Sia's singing—especially in Valerie, but that may just be me. Unfortunate that she passed away, she was so talented and had an incredible voice. She had character, great technique IMO, and just also had a emotional connection with her music.

Adele is strongest at songwriting, her vocals aren't super bad, but they're definitely not up to par with Gaga's or Beyoncé's.

She herself even admitted that she was pitchy during live performances because she would get nervous.

Objectively from a vocal pedagogy standpoint, its Beyonce on that list. Sorry Not Sorry.

She has the healthiest and more advanced singing technique, amazing range, lots of versality in style, vibrato, and her pitch is almost perfect. She's also amazing at creative improvisation, I'd say the best mainstream female vocalist in that regard since Mariah. Oh and her breath control >>> your faves :emma:

Gaga has a lot of this too, but a less impressive range, not always healthiest use of technique and pitch is either very good or kinda meh.

The literal only criticism I've ever heard of Beyonce's vocals are that they are not very unique at all and her timbre is very "samey" but that's an issue of preference and there's not much she can do there.

Xtina has good pitch and the best range there, but her technique can be very unhealthy at times :rip:

The only thing off putting with Beyoncé is her Vocal Tone, which is debatable though. Just like her Inspiration, Bey is has a perfect ear for melodies and arrangements, which makes it hard for her to go off key/pitch etc. I wonder how Bey's Voice will sound like in 10 years. With Mariah, we heard the darkening on the tone as she grew older.

I disagree though, I think that Gaga's Technique is really good - but since she lowers her larynx in some high belts, like the Superbowl - her tone sounds really ugly. This could be due to smoking or alcohol.

I disagree again. I think XTina has perfect pitch until an A4. After that her belts are pure straining, which causes her to sometimes go a semi note up during a belt. In Falsetto she's really on pitch though!

Madonna!

She made fantastic songs with her voice! Not the stronger voice, but very special one!

Suprised no one has said Britney. She sounds exactly the same live as she does in the studio, that's real talent.:derpga::poot:

I actually dont know what you disagreed with me about at all:laughga:

Gaga has great technique in  general; her high belts are really the only thing that concern me but its not all of the time, and shes gotten a LOT better. Performances recently have shown it might be partially a tone and stylistic thing. She does have a less impressive range though, and her belts aren't always the greatest

Did you mean the pitch thing? I honestly just based that off of watching like hundreds of live performances of hers; some of it is obscured by dancing, but even when she's at a piano shes not perfect. Sometimes when she really locks into the center its absolutely mind blowing, which has happened a LOT in the last year and a half for her :applause: but there have been many times in all eras where her pitch goes kind of off. Less so in the C2C era, which to me showed some of her best vocal performances, but in general shes really good but not perfect or anything. Still better than her contemporaries, but I thought it was a fair criticism :emma:

Also, I just said Xtina's pitch was good :duck:  I don't think its really deniable that she strains on a lot of her belting range though, which is a sign of bad technique... which was my only criticism of her. Her higher register is really on pitch though, I agree. Her early era whistles :applause:

Im not sure if I'd put Gaga or Xtina above the other, they are both really good with some minor flaws, though I guess Xtina's belting is more "glaring" of an offense if you consider it an offense, but still... It is partly a stylistic choice, you dont have to have bad technique to sing deeper and raspier, which is kind of what she's known for.

Even before I knew squat about vocal technique (which is new, #College :gaycat: ) It struck me as odd that her belts sounded so uncharacteristic to the rest of her voice :saladga: Now that I've heard her more, I don't think thats necessarily true, but I used to literally not believe that was her voice :smh:

Anyway, yeah idk what we disagreed on :emma:

Oh and about Beyonce, if you listen to exhibitions of her vocal range, especially her upper range, from her early years to now, I personally think its already darkening slightly, just me though.
