Every thread about her was filled with hateful post after hateful post with tired ass shade and weak "jokes". This is exactly what we've become now with Katy. It is normal for an artist to feel frustrated when people don't appreciate your art, and when you're like used to always be #1 (aka Katy) its even worst. Considering that they were the final singles off the album, I doubt it. You've got to be realistic. E.T. was the 4th single from the album. Most albums stop having successful singles after the third one and some can only get 2 successful singles. That's the way its always been, especially in the UK. Album campaigns tail off massively post-single #3 here. The UK is a small country in the grand scheme of things, with a much, much smaller population than the US. Until the advent of streaming accounting for chart positions, it was extremely rare to see a single rise week after week. Pre-streaming, unlike the US, if a single didn't hit the top in its debut week, it never will go to the top. The first few weeks were everything and it was like that for all artists. Most artists struggle to get a #1 after the lead single. In the UK, it's extremely rare to get multiple #1's from the same album (Bruno Mars and JB are two of the very few I can think of that managed 3 #1's from one album). Maybe Katy just didn't know how our charts operated but whatever, it makes her sound really entitled. She'd only had 2 #1's at this point in the UK and both of them were lead singles.
