I'm doing a hella good job as male feminist. It's not the 1960s. You seem to be forgetting you are on a forum full of gay man we know what the hell you are talking about and top of that I'm black I know the struggle. Kim Kardashian is an entrepreneur and there's nothing wrong with taking your clothes off. She does much more than that and that's why she's a millionaire. It does not make her less of a woman or person for doing so, there is nothing wrong with taking off your clothes. Maybe you're just not comfortable in your own skin. You're not helping the problem, you are only c o n t i n u i n g to add to the problem.

Saying that "it's not the 1960's" isn't anything to do with feminism. It's just referring to a more conservative time, is all. My views are not that outdated. You've only seen a small amount of them. Yes, I realise I'm on a forum of gay men but that's partly where a bit of disconnect occurs - gay men look at female sexuality differently to other women or even straight men. They love sexual women, even if they're not interested romantically. But what you don't realise is that this is objectifying women just like straight men do. I find it sad that more gays don't try to consider the ways in which sexualisation can be very harmful to women and how a lot of us find it offensive. And note I said sexualisation, not sexual expression. Feminism can be too blindly followed by men and a lot of them can misunderstand it. And actually, I don't mind Kim. I'm not her biggest fan, but I think she's ok. But that doesn't mean I think becoming famous through a sex tape is a good idea. It doesn't set you up to be respected. I think the level of disrespect people have for her is a bit too much as she's surprisingly self aware but I can understand where the disrespect comes from. Respect isn't a given, you have to earn it. Kim's not less of a woman or a person for having a sex tape, she's just disrespected because of it, that's all I'm saying. A sex tape used to destroy a woman's career, now it can be the making of it. That's not the positive development like some people will paint it as. It's because women's sexuality is now unashamedly for sale. And I feel perfectly fine in my own skin, I just don't feel the need to show it off. That shows confidence, in my opinion, because I don't need validation through being naked because I know that I'm worth more than my body. Being confident in your body can also mean that you don't want people to see it because you only want those who have deemed themselves worthy of you to see it. That's real sexual power - the ability to withhold your sexuality from those you deem unworthy of experiencing it.

What is overtly sexual? What do you consider overtly sexual when it comes to men vs women?

Bieber was just photographed water skiing in white underwear. Exposing every inch of him. Many men have appeared in their videos wearing a lot less than any of the women were wearing in this video.  So what's your definition of overtly sexual? Is it the fact that it's ok for men to express their sexuality as long as it is a dominating and masculine sexuality but any other sexuality can't be shown. There is plenty of videos with men in bathtubs, men licking their lips, men dancing grabbing their crotch or simply just grabbing their crotch. Why is it that if a woman shows femine submissive sexuality it becomes such an issue for people? Yet if Madonna or Lady Gaga shows sexuality of a more dominating or aggressive nature ( more masculine) then it's ok. It seems like a double standard. And God forbid a man shows a sexual side that is anything less than masculine whether he be gay or straight. That would be the end of his career.

Overtly sexual refers to the most explicit forms of sexuality (p*rn) as well as extremely revealing clothing as well as extremely sexual phrasing, mannerisms and actions. Overtly sexual is the same for both men and women. I don't do double standards.

Most men do not appear this scantily clad, though. I don't know what videos you're watching, but in heterosexual male culture, they rarely go further than toplessness (which is different from female toplessness). No, I'm fine with men expressing sexuality how they see fit, as long as, just like women, they don't over-sexualise themselves. I don't like to see either gender be nothing more than a piece of meat. It's a problem, however, if women want to show submissive sexuality because it is this expression that ensures that women are kept down in society. By showing submissiveness, we get disrespected, we lose power. Because it's exactly what men want and we are merely catering to them, the whole concept of raunch feminism plays right into a chauvanist male's fantasies. Women are perfectly within their rights to be submissive in their private lives (even I prefer to be submissive!) but in public, it is their duty to present a stronger, more progressive view of female sexuality to ensure that women get a better deal. Women have tried to do raunchy videos for years, hoping to progress the female cause...and not a thing has changed. Because it's giving men exactly what they want, it's not saying anything new. If we stopped parading women as pieces of meat, maybe we'd stop getting treated that way. Women can still show a female sexuality, just be stronger with it (stronger is not showing it all), classier with it, don't play so much to the guys. Plenty of men find it sexier when a woman doesn't show it all off and leaves something to the imagination anyway. Men can show sexuality how they please, as long as they respect themselves too. I'm not asking for double standards. I'm asking for the same standards.

You're not a feminist. That's all. Your views in this thread represent a 1960s woman. Your views are outdated and you don't sound like a feminist at all. You sound just like how Wendy Williams said who are hating on a video of women having fun most just be a lot of women who has babies and don't look like her plus lost their looks in the process. You can't pick and choose. I do not even know what your motive is... you're no better than the people who diss Kim Kardashian for doing her job. You are once again part of the problem, not the solution. I cannot say that enough. Let these women have their fun and shut up. And then you would be a feminist and not only a feminist a progressive person in society. There is nothing wrong with women getting together to show their sexuality in the way they want and dance. If you seriously, have a problem with that well **** it then cause it is not going no where. Your views and opinions are the sad tired opinions that women had to face in this business from Madonna, Cher, Beyonce, TLC, Britney, Christina, Lady Gaga, and so on. Who gives a damn about society, women, and other girls think. The video did just that, so I don't why we having this conversation any damn way. It's unapologetic in your face and she even addressed the haters in the song, so I don't see why I'm here.

I'm not going to let you decide that for me. Think whatever you want but only I know the true me, obviously. You think I'm close-minded but maybe one day, you'll realise how close-minded your views are that I'm talking 1960's talk. My views are the ones that are progressive, yours are the ones that are out-dated. Women have used these tactics for years to get ahead in the business. Women using their talent and brains to get ahead is where it's at now. And even more advanced are the ones who have talent and brains but also beauty and classy sexuality. A new form of feminism is rising up the "middle ground" feminists and I'm one of them. We support sexuality but not the damaging kind that oppresses us. That is what my motive is - I'm trying to make a better world for women by offering up an ideology that allows you to be sexual without compromising your personality, achievements and integrity. I want to see a world where women don't have to make videos like Fergie's when they're older just to get views and be relevant. The video is not massively liked, it's becoming notorious (known for being bad), just check the growing dislikes. Most people are laughing at this video and calling it tacky and not true empowerment and think it's sad that these grown women who are wives and mothers (real achievements worth commending) feel the need to degrade themselves. And there you go, telling a woman to shut up, now that really is non-feminist. And you'd think that would be progressive? How does someone who sits down and shuts up supposed to change anything in the world? I don't have a problem with the women you listed being sexual. I wouldn't be on a Gaga fansite if I didn't approve of her sexuality, right? I just think there's a line to be drawn, that's all. Maybe if you seriously tried to put yourself in a woman's shoes, maybe you'd start to get it. And one of the first things you'd get is that silencing a woman's opinion and telling her to shut up is highly offensive. This is what puts me off a lot of pro-sex agendas - the people involved in them can be so rude to anyone offering a different way of looking at things. But they're partly so aggressive because they can't answer the questions that we pose to them. They realise the flaws in their theories and bail out of the discussion so they don't have to think about it too hard. Because if they do, they'll realise how society has tricked them into thinking this damaging form of sexuality is actually empowerment.

I can't at a man telling you you're wrong about your own oppression and to shut the **** up about it. The privilege. Didn't even bother to counter your arguments about how these issues affect women in the real world. "Who cares if women perpetuating stereotypes reinforces the patriarchy and actively oppresses other women, you can't tell other women what to do" is the most simplistic conceptualization of feminism out there. Some women are part of the problem, and its not up to men to tell us which are which. We can figure that out for ourselves thank you very much.

And I think you are doing a poor job at whatever it is that you are "doing" and I think it does nothing for feminism. The majority of people are not laughing at the video. It has mostly likes on youtube and is still in the top 10. I put myself in women's shoes plenty of times. I am doing it right now as you continue to hate on a fellow woman for just being who she is a successful female woman with hot body not afraid to show or hide it. Multi-millionaire and been in the business probably longer than you have been alive. I am loving the way things are and I hope they continue this way. I salute the strong women in the industry for not giving it to these old idles of what woman should be from the 60s and even earlier. You can continue to be in the middle. I want to be upfront with strong feminist both male and female as we bring the first female president of America Hilary Clinton into office. Ps, just because I do not respond to every single word that you say does not mean I did not read it or comprehend it. I gather my thoughts and touch on all of what you say as a whole and if you felt that I told you "shut up" in a lateral sense. I apologize. Honestly, if I wanted to shut up I would have just told you to "shut up" or stop responding to you. I welcome your views even though I strongly disagree with them. I still find them interesting. Work it proud independent M.I.L.F. Fergie!

There are men who have done wonders for feminism. The definition and not your opinion of what a feminist is the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. You do not have to male or female. Of course, men are the reason there is this movement, but still there's a lot of women who are the reason why this movement continues today and why women themselves pick apart a woman whose just in a video having fun with moms... and you know the rest. I refuse to keep talking in circles. Go back a few pages.

We don't have to agree on everything to be a feminist, but if you think a person voting against Parent Plannhood or women having equal rights is a feminist. You're obviously wrong. Plus, Strawberry Blonde said she was a "middle ground" feminist. Therefore, I guess in a sense I was right. :awkney:
