Can't believe people are saying The Fame is underrated. 15 million copies of the albums sold, 2 #1s, and 2 Grammys. Those alone justified it's pop status. :saladga:

They mean within the fanbase its underrated, which it is. How often do you see people talking about it?

The Fame is a brilliant pop album, much better than ARTPOP imo

The mainstream part of me is screaming TF but my artistic one is yelling ARTPOP :koons:

Both albums have huge highlights and many other cohesive tracks.

TF:  PokerFace, Paparazzi, LoveGame, Just Dance, Beautiful Dirty Rich, The Fame, Paper Gangsta, I Like It Rough, Disco Heaven, Brown Eyes

ARTPOP: Applause, Venus, ARTPOP, Mary Jane Holland, Gypsy, Sexxx Dreams, Dope, Do What U Want, G.U.Y, Fashion!

Yet when it comes to the rest of the album's body, ARTPOP is much more interesting and cohesive imo. Most of the other tracks of TF feel like fillers to me (when it comes to their sound and not their themes)...

So ARTPOP

The Fame. Most of it is still fresh sounding to me which is pretty amazing when ARTPOP came afterwards only three years ago and most of feels tiresome now apart from DWUW. DWUW remains one of her best :emma:

For the first year or so after ARTPOP, I relentlessly defended it and thought it was my second favorite Gaga album. However, even though it's newer, it hasn't aged as well as The Fame. Looking back, I actually think The Fame is more cohesive, artistic, and fun than ARTPOP.

If I had to personify each album, ARTPOP to me is an explosion and The Fame is a beautiful dress. TF is much more elegant and adheres to a central design, but ARTPOP is crazy and loud and colorful.

The Fame's first seven songs are killer and some of Gaga's best. The last seven songs are, bluntly, filler. They're quality songs, but they lack the catchiness of Poker Face and the dance of BDR. I feel like all of the songs on The Fame are also all in a similar style – they're all (mostly) the same "color" so to speak, which is good for cohesion and uniformity because TF is kind of a concept album.

ARTPOP's got a much more vibrant, erratic collection of songs that is definitely more experimental and less uniform in sound. I think that its music is definitely more mature than TF's, while also being more immature at the same time. From Jewels n Drugs to DWUW to Dope, there's all sorts of styles on ARTPOP that make it "pop" imo. I think ARTPOP is overall the real jewel in Gaga's discography, not The Fame (which is still a fantastic pop album).

I disagree. The Fame sounds pretty aged to me. But I feel like current pop is kinda aged too.

It's all oponion though. It just depends on what remains fresh in our brains haha.

ARTPOP. I love The Fame, but the former is more compelling and substantial to me.

The Fame don't crack! . ARTPOP aged badly. It needs lotion and other moisturizing products.

Well they're both tied as my second faves from her discography because imo

BTW > TF = AP > C2C

But I like TF more nowadays because I'm back into a more synthpop type of sound, and was hoping she'd do a modernised synthpop sound on LG5 but I doubt it tbh
