Carl Bean wasn't the first artist to release that song, either.  Just stumbled upon this fun fact 

Apparently the first version of "I Was Born This Way" was released in 1975 by Charles Harris, better (or rather hardly) known as Valentino.

as far as i now, it's the only song the lyrics of which explicitly include the words 'gay' and 'transgender.' it should be the first on the list.

You're entitled to feel that way. But I don't care if it mentions transgender or gay, it still does not deserve to be higher than Cyndi Lauper, Diana Ross, and others. To even think that way is utter delusion at its finest. Just another example of how out of touch this generation is. But I rest my case
