I'm just saying I have observations from different European cultures. and ABBA sold as many records as Madonna with much less releases and much less sales from the US and UK markets so what "the numbers speak" is that they are indeed more successful in continental Europe. I know a lot of people who are familiar with pretty much all of Madonna's singles discography but it's still mostly the gay community that recognizes her for having a great catalogue. Expand I am. You think that the other hits are less relevant in other European countries, then? I could probably believe that. But the fact she's still managing to put on sold out tours across the continent shows that she's remembered and adored for more than a handful of hit singles lol. The fact that she has so many that are completely ubiquitous is impressive in itself and can't be said for many acts (yes ABBA is one of them) and I have no idea why so many on this site try to deny that. Madonna has sold far more overall than ABBA but once again I could probably believe that they sold a similar amount or even more than her exclusively in Europe. Madonna has more top tens than ABBA in big European countries (UK aside) like France, Germany and even Sweden. The only one-up she would have over them to beat her would be duration but I still think that's applaudable. Obviously their "mean average" would be more impressive and I doubt anyone would deny it, but either way the fact remains that Madge accomplished more. Expand Tbh I don't know either of their music that well even though I've heard both of their greatest hits. I couldn't conpare these songs when I haven't heard half of them (or don't remember them rather), but I think ABBA has much more consistently great music based in what I have heard of both.
