well, from my perspective, a gagz fan believing linda perry's suspiciously-timed drag of a tweet over the statements/interviews of the artists who actually created the song is insulting and, ironically, might be a reason to be skeptical about said fan's integrity.

I agree, Linda Perry's tweet was without a doubt "suspiciously-timed" and I wouldn't hesitate to believe that it was triggered by the fact that her own song with Miley Cyrus wasn't nominated. However, I still consider the arguments mentioned in my previous post to be reason enough to believe that there's something strange about how both Diane and Linda approached the issue and the overall lack of disclosure.

as for the cue sheets, does the author of that article have access to see those? if so, are they also available to the public? because if not, they are just assuming things and might as well be wrong. plus, i find it interesting that the song could have won an oscar for diane and gagz without the interference of the cue sheets, but suddenly the rules are different for an emmy.

I have absolutely no idea. I was just trying to explain what I thought the author of the article meant but I have no clue as to whether his sources are legitimate or simply based on assumptions.

Gaga  really changed just the line from " til you get a rip in your soul" to "til you're at the end of the rope" .. But anw .. Diane should get it , i love how nice she is

Writing songs isn't just lyrics though.

Diane said Gaga contributed a lot to the composition towards the end.

I wasn't referring to the Emmy's at all.

I was referring to the fact that you thought writing songs stops at lyrics. :unicorn:

No one is denying that Gaga worked on the song with Diane but the basic elements of the song - lyrics, chords, melody - were clearly already made up by the time Gaga arrived to the project. The performance, arrangement, production and whatever other aspects of the song Gaga may have worked on are obviously not deemed worthy enough by the Emmys to warrant her a nomination for writing the song. Get over it.

Yeah I knew that, just questioned as to why she would agree to not having enough credits.

I'm guessing she just wanted to play fair. Only amount to the amount of credit she felt she contributed?

Huh, that's unfortunate, because she's listed as the sole producer, no?

That's still a lot of work, considering how much she's worked on it, according to Diane. Sad that's not gonna be credited. I do hope her technical work gets acknowledged someday. That would be a whole new ballpark for Gaga.

I'm aware of that which is why I listed production as one of the aspects that Gaga worked on. My point is that the only thing one can take away from this is that they must only be honouring the bare bones of the song, not the performance and recording. In that case it's understandable why the Emmys wouldn't nominate Gaga if there is evidence from the cue sheet that she had little or no involvement in the writing.

you're right, don't worry. :diane:

diane: "She made it hers and took it to another level by arranging the **** out of it and singing the **** out of it."

plus linda perry already apologized for being an asshole.

Yeah, so why is it not elegible then? :(

Producing doesn't count, however. Gaga and Diane were both writers of the song but apparently Gaga's involvement in the writing process wasn't substantial enough to be a winner of that Emmy category.

Btw, lyricist is not the same as writer, I believe.

Weird. I'm guessing it's bc Diane wrote the original song, which Gaga reworked with her.

Look, rules are rules... Oscar rules allowed Gaga to be nominated, Emmy rules don't allow her to be nominated.

And you can deny it all you want, but this is another proof that Gaga didn't have much songwriting input in the song.

Well she could have made more alterations to the original song? That doesn't sound unfair to me.
