It's 10 years since the horrific terror attack at Bataclan in Paris that took the lives of 130 people.

Beautiful, thank you Gaga

Some people might take it as xenophobia. The word Bataclan has become a byword in France for extreme Islamist violence since the Paris attacks in 2015. On the evening of 13 November 2015, jihadist gunmen and suicide bombers conducted a sequence of co-ordinated attacks that culminated in a bloody raid on the Bataclan concert hall in eastern Paris.

Not to be incredibly uncharitable, I get the feeling that the people who find mentioning the attack controversial would be the same people who justify October 7th and call Hamas “freedom fighters” lol. “Well, it’s not terrorism if it’s in retaliation to colonialist action (in this case, French airstrikes on an ISIS base in Syria)”

Except, of course, attacking civilian targets is categorically terrorism/a war crime, even if you feel you have valid justification for retaliating against the state.

Yeah, I could see that, but getting angry at her for other people’s xenophobia is kind of wild. That being said, this headline is a great example of the type of rhetoric that makes sense in the context of what’s being described (rising youth Islamic extremism and sustained threats of acts of terrorism in France), but much like post 9/11 Islamophobia, also results in civilian animosity against all Muslims.

It was the 10 year anniversary of these attacks, a particularly tough day for everyone here in France and something that was definitely on people’s minds at this show. Let’s not mix everything up.

Wait, I feel like I'm missing even more now 'cause France struck ISIS and then some extremists conducted an attack on random people in France and...idk, I guess my question is who out here is really siding with ISIS? :bear:

Attacking civilians is always wrong, 100% of the time. I feel like that's a pretty simple and low bar :bear:

Bonkers

I'd like to see her dedicate it to Donald Trump.  It's called manifesting, look it up. :fan:

It was not intended to make this attack lighter or not important, it was an atrocious thing to happen on our European grounds, but I wish she spoke up about the current horrors as well. I miss the more fiery political side of her.

what if she speaks up, but not as u wish?

Michael is Jewish, he's donating money to cancer research to Israeli hospitals, he's working with Teva and so on, wouldn't be surprise if he even has a family there.

If she were to say something it would have been a both sided, peace and love, kind of claim, which the majority of her fanbase don't consider it as a good reply. they want the words genocide, free Palestine, Zionism is bad and all that.

So she simply does what she does best recently, staying quiet.

NOTE: This is a mandatory message stating that I don't condone the attack.

I think something people are missing is that the Bataclan attack is what gave Trumps platform validity. People were still unsure of him as late as November UNTIL the Bataclan attack took place. Some have even gone as far as arguing that this attack is what caused him to eventually win a year later and introduce the MAGA cult and Trumpism into the mainstream.

Well, why are people demanding that she speak out specifically on gaza? Why not also on congo, sudan, or other countries, which I can’t even think of right now that are also experiencing civil war/genocide/famine and have been for quite some time?

You see, I’m generalizing them here, which isn’t good, because I don’t have enough knowledge to properly address those issues (maybe she thinks that too). If I want gaga to speak out, I’d want her to learn the history, culture, context, etc., behind those conflicts and give a proper, solid statement at the UN or whatever credible, authoritative platform we have rn (and i dont even know if that's a good and proper way to do it, i'm just giving an example). Not just post a “#freepalestine” on ig stories like many celebrities do, because honestly, those posts look super shallow to me. I don’t think all of them truly know what’s going on, they just “speak out” because it’s trending and maybe want to earn some goodwill from the public.

#freepalestine and "zionist" have been thrown out too casually atp
