Tony Visconti suggested the Hello's singer may have had her voice "manipulated' in the studio

Adele has hit at back at David Bowie's producer after he suggesting her voice was distorted on record.

Tony Visconti - who worked with the late Starman rocker on some of his greatest albums - targeted the Hello singer in a rant aimed at the state of contemporary music.

In a clip uploaded onto Twitter by a fan at a recent concert, the singer can be heard ranting as she says: "Some d***head tried to say that my voice was not me on record... suck my d***."

The producer had blasted the state of mainstream music and claimed the majority of the songs on the radio are "computerised voices"

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "You turn the radio on and it's fluff, you are listening to 90% computerised voices. We know Adele has a great voice but it's even questionable if that is actually her voice or how much has been manipulated.

He didn't say that tho. I kinda agree with what he said. Ugh, think of all the legends that came before, then think of our current 'artists': Katy perry? Nicki minaj? Justin bieber? Yeah I like their music but it's laughable to think they are the ones representing our generation's music

I don't think he meant to be mean but either way I hate people like him. They feel so elevated and they think their taste in music is superb compared to other's.

But she's proven to have the exact same voice when she performs live vs. when she's in the studio. She honestly sounds exactly the same.

If he was going to make that argument, he should have at least used a different artist, Adele is probably the least likely person to alter her voice when she's making a record.

He's right about this:

"We don't know. There's a sound to pop now that is so perfect it's boring, because everything is fixed."

Visconti described the current era as "the worst time era in the music industry

What you said is patently untrue. Even I with my untrained novice ears can hear a difference in Adele's studio and live vocals this era. I don't think he meant anything malicious by it, practically EVERY artist manipulates their voice to some degree, even vocal powerhouses like Adele.

I didn't count for minute details and altercations when it came to manipulating a singer's voice in the studio. Of course they are going to clean it up and make it sounds audible and fresh, but the gist of it is that her voice is pretty much identical to the one on the track. During a live performance there are variables that happen, because, it's well, live, but her voice has been consistent with track(s).

There's no flurry back story, there's no: 'I lost my pet dog in '97 and that made me want to play' nonsense.

what sort of utter bullshit is this. what the **** is wrong with a back story? :smh: maybe it's a new concept for him, but artists tend to be inspired by, real or imagined, life experiences.

kudos to adele for calling him out! he really needs to let his superior attitude go.
