Bernie Sanders will meet privately in the Oval Office today, just two days after Obama effectively declared Sanders' opponent, Hillary Clinton, the winner of theDemocratic primary. Hardly two hours after the president released his Tuesday evening statement, Sanders took to a podium in California to inform supporters of his plans to stay in the race until the summer convention in Philadelphia. In perhaps an early preview of their meeting today at the White House, Obama told fundraiser attendees in New York Wednesday night that “we just ended or sort of ended our primary season,” which begs the question over whether he will be able to convince Sanders of the same. Other top Democratic supporters of Sanders have similarly told ABC News of their readiness to rally behind Clinton. But the White House maintains Obama will not call on Sanders to drop out of the race, and still has not made his official endorsement of Clinton, which White House officials say is imminent. I hope he encourages him to keep running if he chooses, but to try to continue to further his political agenda because it obv. resonates with so many people. Polls show a vast majority majority (Around ~75%) of Bernie supporters are going to support the Democratic nominee and the three general election polls released this week show Clinton up by 4, by 8 and by 5 even with all the salty Bernie supporters. So if they want to vote for Trump, I say be my guest! Quite frankly, if you're willing to overturn the will of the voters who voted for Hillary, whose coalition was made up of women, African-Americans and Latinos, to give the nomination to Bernie, whose strongest voting bloc was young white men, you might be a good fit for the Trump campaign anyways.
