GOP Senators Finally Starting To Realize Their Party Nominated Total Racist

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) became the first Republican member of Congress to rescind an endorsement of Donald Trump, saying on Tuesday that he could no longer support his party’s presumptive nominee for president after Trump’s racist attacks against a federal judge.

“I cannot and will not support my party’s nominee for President,” he said.

Kirk’s statement was the most powerful denunciation of Trump to come from Republicans on Capitol Hill, but it was hardly the only one, suggesting that Trump’s racist attacks are finally starting to worry GOP lawmakers.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), one of the few Republican senators who have not backed Trump, went a step further, arguing that Trump’s comments could motivate Republicans to challenge him at the party’s convention in July.

“Where there’s no talk of a convention challenge or anything else, this might spur it,” he told reporters on Capitol Hill. “Let’s face it: meet the old Trump, just like the new Trump. We’ve got what we’ve got. That’s not somebody who can win the White House.”

Flake’s remarks came just a day after affirming that he still cannot support Trump. He said that Trump accusing U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel of bias because of his “Mexican heritage” marked “a whole new level” for the presumptive GOP nominee. Flake also slammed Trump for not having serious policy proposals.

“‘We’re going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it’ is not a serious proposal,” Flake said. “They want serious proposals on how to deal with this war on terrorism. Saying that you’re going to ban Muslims from entering the country is not a serious proposal.”

Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), a Trump supporter, warned that the presumptive nominee has “two or three weeks” to change the course of his campaign, telling Yahoo News that Trump’s attacks against Curiel were “inappropriate.”

Kirk’s announcement followed a call from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) earlier on Tuesday for Republicans to reject Trump.

“If anybody was looking for an off-ramp, this is probably it,” Graham said, referring to Trump’s attacks against Curiel.

Glad they're coming to their senses. Here's hoping the GOP can become a less extreme and more respectable party sometime soon. Maybe by the time Hillary's leaving office?

Well seeing as how young people (who are the future) still feel 50/50 almost about abortion nowadays... They will still campaign as a party on that issue most likely!  Smh

I find it hilarious that Republicans now suddenly care about Trump's racism, hes been racist and xenophobic this whole damn time, do they only see it because its a federal judge or what?  I see you Republicans, hes not racist for attacking civilians just other government employees  

Maybe its the more literal "He cant do his job because hes X race" thing...

But then, the Muslim ban was blatant xenophobia by definition as well, so where were all these Republicans who are ready to jump ship then?

I was saying this EXACT same thing earlier...  But to a lot of people (especially on the right), if you are not wearing a white hood, being hosed down in the streets by police(60's), or just blatantly just say that you are a Racist, then they don't believe racism exists!!  Well unless it's "reverse racism"....

I feel like its honestly just a scapegoat for cowards to get out of publicly supporting Trump now. Maybe they don't care at all (well I'd wager hispanic people do care  ) but are just using it like it was said as an "off-ramp". Why didnt they have the integrity to get out ahead of him even from the beginning? To be fair, some people like Mika from Morning Joe definitely did try to do that, but as it became clear that he was going to win the nomination they just shut their mouths and got back to supporting him.

At least the democrats have been openly criticizing Hillary's positions from Day 1 where applicable and they don't have to worry about her openly not showing basic respect and decency towards other people
