Sanders tried to take the stage during an event at Plaza Mexico in Lynwood, Calif., on Sunday afternoon but was rejected. “This is our event,” a staffer told reporters after the incident.

Sanders is campaigning in California ahead of the state’s Democratic primary on Tuesday. His campaign denied Sunday that the candidate was prevented from speaking.

Employing Trump tactics by dismissing several reporters' consistent statements and changing the story :diane:

"Bernie should sue them as obviously the festival event was rigged against him. Maybe he should check to see if he was invited to speak instead of expecting it. Just look at the expression on his face: It's me. It's me, Bernie. You gotta want me, I'm Bernie and Bernie is everything." :toofunny:

It could be a mix of both. The story Sanders' camp is telling could be true, which does not mean people at the event, incl. staff, were happy he didn't take the stage for the reasons reported.

Anyway, I'm inclined to agree with the "woman" and the "staffer" if it's true that Bernie just assumed he would be able to speak without an issue.

Anyway, you missed this tweet:

Not unimportant. I for one don't think there's enough confirmation yet to assume Bernie's camp is twisting the story. Several reporters' consistent statements? :flop: There are only two, and they're not even fully consistent, one reporter referring to a staff member, the other one to what appears to have been a random woman merely responding to the news of Bernie not being able to speak.

Hopefully the event organizers will issue a statement.

Yeah I had added it.

....The staffer is a woman... she said the same statement: "This is our event".

I'll believe the reporters until otherwise because I have no reason not to, especially since one of them, Sam Sanders, is dedicated to reporting real-time Sanders news and follows him on the campaign trail.

You claim they aren't fully consistent by using irrelevant description contrasts. One of them described her as a staffer. The other as a woman. The same person said: "This is our event". A staffer cannot be a woman?  How is that not a spin? I'm not even saying you're spinning it in defense of Bernie.

You're just injecting doubt unnecessarily.

Who cares though? We have one claim that describes a random "woman" talking directly to HER (Yamiche), and a claim of that same person being a staffer, even though he (Sam) obviously didn't obtain direct contact.

Obviously that's not grave evidence that the reporters are lying, but it's still not consistent like you claimed in order to fortify your exaggerated Trump analogy.

What I'm saying still stands: we don't know enough yet, both stories can theoretically be true, even in combination. That's not spinning things, that's being careful, and waiting for further information. Not even the article you cite jumps to the conclusions you're bringing to the table.

The two reporters did it in real-time not after the fact so there's no reason not to believe them, especially when they are independent reporters.

Why would they both lie?

Note that I'm not saying there can't be some misunderstanding somewhere, but the Sanders campaign outright denies they were refused.

That's a lie. It's a spin. That's all I said with regards to the Trump tactic, in which he lies and spins his own story while denying what the media said.

It also was a joke, so no need to get dramatic on me. I wonder why you don't get so worked up when people joke at Hillary's expense. :usrs:

Clearly I'm not saying they lied. I am convinced it did happen, as I clearly implied in my very first post: I agree with them! lol

In fact, what I've been saying above all is that the story of the reporters need not automatically contradict that of Bernie's camp.

I think that's a spin. As I said, both stories can be true in combination: there's no reason why a staff member (which is not the same as an event organizer, obviously) couldn't be happy Bernie wasn't able to speak for his own personal reasons that don't reflect that of the actual organizers/reps/whoever.

I'm waiting for a confirmation from actual organizers, not irrelevant staffers, 'cause that's the sensible thing to do before you make conclusions.

Sanders assumed they would let him speak. He overstepped his bounds. This was their event, not his.

I mean that's totally fair. More confirmation is always good ;)

Hey can you not be rude?

Irrespective of what we know, if Bernie was scheduled to present, he would have presented. That there was doubt effectively means this was not planned. He showed up so he expected he would speak. He couldn't.

I love how you inject doubt in situations that appease you. Meanwhile you're more than fine claiming statements against Hillary as solid fact.

Inconsistent Didymus.

That's my Trump nickname for you :lolga:

We have two opposing stories. We can't know which is more accurate.
