I believe her artistic peak is yet to come, but her commercial peak is long over and call me a pessimist but I don't see her ever coming close to that :madge:

I agree! By "peak" I mean artistry. Commercial success is overrated :) My fav things about Gaga have always been the lesser-known tracks. & authentic, passionate live performances.

I would not call 2007 Britney's peak... I was referring to her peak in popularity in 2001.

Britney's 2001 was bigger than Gaga's peak.

Where do you go when the dream you built your entire career around becomes a reality. Simple as that.
Dream of fame > Achieve Fame > Nowhere else to go.

She's telling what every other celebrity feels like but they are too afraid to say it.

Fame ruins everyone in some way, there is no real way to prepare for it to happen or know how you'll react.

I think she had a peak but the world ALWAYS loved a huge comeback. Gaga will never be "over" it's very rare that artists like Gaga come around the talent she has is out of this world and the brains she's got, theirs no way that fame could ever touch that. She makes fame her bitch lol :gaycat:

What peak ever? Britney never had any importance in the world. She was a worthless bimbo and child abuser at the most (1999 and 2007). Her CDs never impacted anything except the bottom of trashcans. She's utterly forgotten to the world and will remain that way for eternity.

Gaga's peak and impact was felt globally (unlike Knee who has no UK #1 album and bombed in Japan with her debut). Gaga's persona, looks, political beliefs and radical pop cultural takeover is the defining pop moment of the 2010s landscape. FOH Britney fan. <3

Can't detect the sarcasm. . . .

While I can agree, Gaga is in a completely different lane (amazing vocalist, songwriter and creative artist in every sense of the word) to act as if Britney didn't impact Pop Culture is just bizarre. I've never owned anything from Britney (was young asf anyway) truthfully I'm not a fan at all, but I won't lie and say she didn't effect the genre in a huge way.

In a way Gaga redefined what Britney did in 99-2001. It was like record labels went from "Be like Britney" to "Can you give us Gaga-esque?"

On topic though "Did fame ruin" blah blah.

No. Commercial success does not define an artist. Ever.

She just learned that lots of people in the business are fake during the hip surgery months, so that scares her out, I guess.

That's false, Britney was followed by TONS of paparazzis everywhere she would go. The whole world talked about her 24/7. Gaga just had a peak a little close to Britney's but Britney had a slightly bigger one.

What???

09-11 gaga > 99-01 britney!

I'm not sure if you did, but I lived through both. Britney was iconic and was a world wide phenomenon, gaga was the same... everyone talked about her 24/7 during her peak. Everyone knew her. Everyone referenced her.

I don't understand how people question how truly huge gaga was during her peak? There's literally only been 2 before her to achieve that peak (madonna, britney. Not Beyonce, not Christina, not fionna, not alana, not gwen, not even Whitney, Celine, or mariah)!

Not sure what happened tbh. I think it's a mix of her creative team(s) breaking up and being horribly overworked.
