ReidOne 12,427
Honestly, in the last 10 years, I cannot think of a song that has had more impact or social relevance than "Born This Way." If you can think of another, please name it. In one day, it received more plays than any other song had ever received in a single day in the history of US radio. It was the first Top 40 hit in history to use the word "transgender" in the lyrics. Not only that, but that week it became the landmark 1,000th number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Chart & airplay successes aside, in the wake of the song, the term "Born This Way" has become a mantra of the LGBTQ community. It's now synonymous with equal rights, completely independent of it's Gaga origins. Just yesterday, while driving home from work, I was listening to SiriusXM talk radio with Bevy Smith and she was honoring June "Gay Pride" month by playing the Country Roads remix of "Born This Way." Seriously, is there any other song that has had such a lasting impact on human rights in the last 10 years?!

"Do you ever feel like a plastic bag" are words that shaped an entire generation of free-thinking plastic bags across the country and helped kick-start the Plastic Rights movement in America; this eventually gave rise to Perry v. Plastic, better known as the Plastic Bags Rights legislation, a landmark Supreme Court decision giving all plastic bags the right to drift through the wind and want to start again. "think of a song that has had more impact or social relevance than "Born This Way." roar was relevant enough to snatch that number 1, soon to go number diamond and played throughout hospitals to cheer/give patients hope. iirc, a victim of a fire sung to roar because it helped gave her the strength to live after her parents or family and house was lost in the fire.
