No one is silent here. The ones who liked the series are genuine.

Even the disingenuous can like something. They just follow the crowds and the conversations, but their heart is not in it.

I'm not buying that statement unless you've done some proper survey or something. A few hateful comments are never as strong and convincing as the majority's (the people who did pay and spend time to watch the movie) interest in the franchise.

Btw, that justifies why it's still smart for the studios to make X-Men films. People who complain and seethe about how bad the films are, eventually, still watch the movies, thus supporting the studio. If you really hate it, why even care about there being remakes or not? Whenever they're out, you can simply ignore them.

The fact that each movie grosses millions of dollars is a point that the franchise receives appreciation from its fans, and why sabotage others' happiness because you do not derive satisfaction from it?

It's utter selfishness.

Because I want Hollywood to make more original films, I am selfish.

Okay.

Yes, you're selfish. It's not like X-Men is doing as bad as Fantastic Four, if the majority hated it, they would be no sequels at all. It's clear that people DO like the franchise.

You're not part of them? Fine. Deal with that.

Yes, I am selfish for wanting artists and producers to take risks and be daring and make original films.

Stop trying to change me or make me feel bad about myself.

Films come in many forms. Just because they're making sequels and prequels doesn't mean there aren't original films out there. Go discover.

Nothing to discover in the current crop of cash cows. Superhero sequels have been planned all the way until 2020.

When you watch X-Men, perhaps you see what they want you to see.

All I see is greed.

Why are they even cash cows in the first place? Obviously due to the adoration from fans and general audiences alike.

I don't care if they're original films or not, as long as they're good and enjoyable, I (and the majority of people who contributed to their box office) don't see a problem in paying the price of one ticket to them.

Oh btw there are always original films to discover, you just lack the effort.

Yes I know, stop repeating yourself. I am selfish and I lack effort.

BTW you're confusing adoration from fans with adoration from profitability analysts.

Not sure how I can reply to that when 'making movies' = 'greed' to you.

Um no they're your words not mine. I'm only talking about the greed and excesses of the superhero genre that has dominated this decade. I'm not talking about movies in general.

But if you examine the records, the most profitable films (measured in return on investment) were actually made on small budgets.

Look at The Blair Witch Project.

Look at My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

Look at Grease.

Look at Jaws.

Look at The King's Speech.

Look at Black Swan.

Look at Slumdog Millionaire.

Look at Reservoir Dogs.

Anyway. Maybe people have this need to watch superheroes on film for a deeper, psychological reason.

Perhaps people subconsciously are aware that they are slaves and yearn to break free.

But they lack the courage to start a revolution.

And so all they can do is pay some money, turn off the lights, stare and dream...

Lmfao, you speak as if people who watch superhero films suffer and are forced to do so. You speak as if they are obliged to watch them.

It's funny, really, that you see this form of entertainment in this way. Slaves and yearn to break free, hell the GP would laugh at what you're saying.

There's a market for such a genre, it's a huge one, people are willing to supply, there is demand. Simple as that.
