And this is a forum meant for discussing opinions, so please do yourself a favor @everyone and get the **** out of here.

Did you think twice before adding that last sentence? Because you just ruined your point.

If everyone is free to discuss their opinion, which is what this thread is for (see that 'Opinion' tag? Yep), then what you're basically saying is 'get out of here, you're not welcome to share your opinion.'

Well, if you crop out the rest of my post sure you can say that and come off smart but it doesn't work that way. My point was that people complaining about negativity are inherently extremely dissatisfied with the way this forum functions, since negativity is in nearly all cases (when Gaga's involved somewhere) dealt with accordingly by the mods. Gaga bashing is not allowed, and even when you have an argument that's poorly expressed you still get warned, I speak from experience.

So if you're still going to complain, then my guess is that you just don't belong on this forum where you're gonna encounter strong opinions that might not meet your standards. This forum allows negativity when it's argumented or when it's not a direct insult to Gaga, so if you're not happy with that, don't take it out on the members who are just using the room the rules provide, get out of here. Don't come up with this "excessive negativity" fairytale so you can glorify your own opinion that's just as irrelevant as all of ours here. And when you're gonna do it as a non-member, that just takes the cake. Investing in a forum means expressing your opinion and taking others. Making a thread to complain about other opinions is not doing the latter. Obviously.

Sometimes I am absolutely disgusted by the way some people carry themselves and that's not coming from an administration standpoint, but an actual person one. Some of you are so damn rude to each other that I don't even know how anybody thinks it's okay to talk to someone like that (also to those who "like" the posts). Stupid gifs too.Β

God help you if you really treat people like that in real life not just on a forum. What do you actually gain from being nasty on the internet? Is it that you feel that the anonymity makes you more ballsy? Would you honestly say the same things you say on here to the person you bully in real life if they were sitting next to you?Β I bet if you saw the person's face when you say some of that stuff in real life you wouldn't do it again and if you did, you're a 100% certified grade A bully. Something we are trying to eradicate as a culture and have spent countless hours trying to mediate.Β Β And don't give me a bullshit excuse that "oh they don't even live next to me who cares".

And don't get me started on the Gaga bashing. Same thing. If Gaga was sitting in front of you, would you scream "BITCH GIVE ME LG5" or "SHE NEEDS TO LOSE WEIGHT" in her face? No you wouldΒ not, you wouldΒ be basically starstruck so don't give me that noise.Β

I'm expecting people to reply to this trying to "read me for filth" or whatever stan lingo there is nowΒ but honestly none of thatΒ **** matters. What DOES matter however and what sticks past our young adulthoodΒ is that people learn to at least have the common decency toΒ respect each other. Even if you hated someone for so long, they're still a person and sure **** happens but doesn't prevent one from at least being cordial. I mean I'm not expecting everyone to play nice but it's something to think about.

Sorry this was preachy but I'm trying to get through to you guys to see the bigger picture.Β

Preach Ziconiclla  my thoughts exactly. I feel terrible if I know that I hurt one person in the slightest, no matter if they're in real life or online. How can people throw insults at each other like that...

I couldn't agree more with the OP and @Zilla's reply. I'm deeply disturbed by the large volume of nasty replies in this thread that attempt toΒ justify the negative behavior. There is no justification. But, I don't need to preach on this subject. Because Lady Gaga has already spoken and worked extensively to help her fans and society understand just how important it is to be kind and not feed into online negativity. As GGD members, we represent her core fan base. And it's of the utmost importance that we all work to use our own actions and voices to carry the message that Lady Gaga is so passionate about sharing. She's devoted her life's work to this cause. This is what makes it so troubling that such a large number of users right here in her own fan community seemingly wantΒ to blatantly disregard it.Β

Remember the Emotion Revolution? It hasn't even been a year since Lady Gaga spoke about all of this and implored us to be kinder to each other and not feed in to online negativity. Full video is below (skip to 37:20 to hear the excerpt I have quoted below).

Moderator: Is it extra risky when we're talking about social media when some of the meanest people I've ever not met in person are on social media? I talk about stepping out and being vulnerable when you don't know what's going to come back at you?

Lady Gaga: You have to be a rebel. In a space where it's -- you know, we've done the research where it's 3/4's of what you read on the internet is negative. Right? So, be somebody that's in the 25%. And that's how the rebellion begins. You have to be the antithesis of the status quo. You have to work against it. It's not about a reaction. You don't need to react to anything. We need to be proactive in our own movement of positivity.Β

Panelist: So imagine this. What if everyone in this room started putting positivity -- genuine positivity -- into their social media. Can you imagine the ripple effect that that would have? 'Cause it really only takes a few people to start a ripple.Β

Lady Gaga: Or what if we all just told Twitter that they have to have a standard of morality. [crowd cheers] What if we told all of these corporations --- from an artists mouth, I am telling you that freedom of speech is overrated. OK? What you choose to do with your voice is extremely powerful, we have seen throughout history how dangerous it can be to use your voice for evil. Now we all have a platform. But what really scares me are these massive corporations that just have no standards for values. At all. "It's not my problem. It's your problem. But I'll take your money and we'll go public." Is that what we're gonna do? Is that what we stand for as a generation? "Oh, it's fine 'cause I still get to post my pictures. Who cares?" Nobody's going to remember what you tweeted. But you will never forget all thatΒ hateful **** that you read every single day that made you sick at school, that made it hard for you to read, that made it hard for you to understand, that made it hard for you to focus, get a boyfriend, make a friend, be able to have sex --- there's like, I couldn't even tell you the number of things that depression and anxiety did for me growing up. All the problems, all the things that I actually didn't even know were wrong with me until... I realized I was missing out on so much. We have to take a stand against all of this. And it's going to require being really strong and setting an example. And when you get those jobs, all you Yale-ees -- when you get those jobs, do me a favor andΒ tell these Presidents of these social media corporations that they are ruining culture. [crowd applauds]

I do get your point and you're right, but the thing is that this thread in particular is not really the type you're talking about. It's not like this person came here just to throw a 'u all suk stop being diks spred online kindnes stop the drama grow the fuk up'. He made valid and well thought out points. Yes, the condescensing and haughty tone is off putting but I won't deny what he said qualifies as an opinion. He clearly cares deeply about Gaga. He's nostalgic about how this forum used to be, whatever that was because I have no idea and I love it just fine the way it is, but it is still an opinion. Why else would his post have that high a number of likes? Obviously not everyone thinks he should get the **** out. As you said his opinion is as irrelevant as ours so there's no need to give so much attention to his. You made an argument about how the moderators control the negativity on this site well enough for his argument to make no sense, yet still in the previous page a mod posted saying they agree with this thread and that the negativity here is out of hand.

I want to add, you know very well I wasn't trying to 'come off smart' by quoting that particular sentence. It was just the only thing I wanted to comment on, because as I said I felt it discredited the point you were trying to make (which I already said I don't disagree with).

Well, there is a notoriously large number of people on this forum that complains about this forum's negativity just like the OP so I wasn't surprised it got so many likes :chica: My point was about them as much as it was about JosefPallas.

And yeah, I saw Zilla agreeing with the OP, and I respect that, but on the other hand that doesn't sway me from my original stance. This is a discussion forum, this is not Little Monsters.com. When I say that people need to get away from this forum it's not necessarily a spiteful comment, it's honestly for the good of this forum and for their own good. A forum is supposed to function exactly like GGD does.

I actually didn't, mainly because a member on a previous page made the same remark about that part of my post, clearly not in the way you meant it :rip: I appreciate it though, I actually don't disagree with you, the way I wrote that "get the **** out of here" comment wasn't really a smart closer. I hope I explained better above.
