why is that the sign of true innovation? just bringing something indie into the mainstream, even though the gap between the underground and mainstream is more fluid than ever before and has many levels of popularity. if anything, it should hopefully inspire people to write better music or try things more interesting, as opposed to just copying the same sound as one person whose having a moment in the mainstream.

I think this album is going to be completely different. As seen before, Gaga wanted different singles for BTW and wanted Scheisse as a single as well. She knows that the great songs are. The problem is her label controlled her so much. I don't think that's as much of a factor anymore.

Scheisse would have gone nowhere as a single.  Artists don't always know best.  Madonna wanted singles the label didn't, and her first single choice was horrible off of Hard Candy.  The label was right to veto that.  Depeche Mode insisted on a first single that went flat, and I could have predicted that.  It was their favorite, not a commercial chance in hell as a single.

My point was, she wanted the best songs to be put out. She didn't care if it would have done good or not.

Of course, she cared. No one puts out a single thinking it will tank.  That makes no sense to make it a single then.  Just leave it as a great deep cut. Singles are commercially viable songs.
