5H's Scores 1st #1 Pop Song by girl group in nearly 10 years

Fifth Harmony scores its first No. 1 on Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart (dated June 4), as "Work From Home" surges 4-1. Featured artist Ty Dolla $ign likewise earns his first leader on the list. The group and the rapper/singer performed the smash Sunday night (May 22) on the Billboard Music Awards, broadcast live on ABC.

5H previously reached a high of No. 4 on Pop Songs with its prior entry, "Worth It," featuring Kid Ink, last year. "Work" has already topped the Rhythmic Songs airplay chart (dated May 21), marking the group's first No. 1 on an airplay survey, and risen to No. 5 on the airplay/sales/streaming-based Billboard Hot 100, marking the quintet's first top five hit on the ranking.

Notably, "Work" is the first Pop Songs No. 1 by a girl group in nearly 10 years: since The Pussycat Dolls led for two weeks in September 2006 with "Buttons," featuring Snoop Dogg.

"Work" is from Fifth Harmony's second full-length 7/27, due Friday (May 27). The title is a nod to the date, in 2012, that the five formed as the act on The X Factor. "This is our rebirth," notes 5H's Lauren Jauregui in the group's Billboard cover story. "Also, 727 is a jet, and we're about to take flight, know what I mean?"
